Robertson wasn't used to close again today. He'll soon be gone.

All in all, a tip of the hat to that guy. That was definitely a
bullpen flyer that worked.

He took full advantage of the opportunity, that's for sure.

With off days tomorrow and next Monday, Cubs have only 4 games
remaining until trade deadline—the 4 games in SF starting
Thursday.

Last year I totally understood the decision to trade each of the
big three Cubs, even if I felt sad about them leaving. I seem to
feel at least as sad this year about losing Contreras and
possibly Happ, but I'm less clear about the necessity of doing
it. I sure as heck hope the Cubs get an awesome return for
Contreras, and even more so for Happ, given his age and the
potential he has for being a building piece going forward (with
another year to reach an extension).

I think this puts the nail in the coffin that the Cubs are going
actively trying to win in 2023. If the minor leaguers really
take off maybe 2024, but I really think 2025 is going to be the
year when they try to actually win.
Sucks with Ohtani being a free agent after 2023, but the rumor
is he wants to play for a winner. The Cubs might have a hard
time selling that, unless they can get him to buy into being
Lester 2.0.

According to Rosenthal, the Tigers will listen on Skubal.
Marlins are willing to listen on any player not named
Alcanatara.

Pablo Lopez is probably gone. Jon Berti will likely draw
interest as well.

Is there anything the Mets could offer (realistically) for
Contreras and Robertson as a package that would satisfy you, if
Alvarez and Baty aren't involved? One or the other to them,
maybe, but I don't see both.
All in all I'd rather see the headliner be with the Padres,
especially with the possibility of spiking the punch by taking
Hosmer. Even without Abrams they just have a lot more
interesting trade chips.

Maybe on the Mets. They just don’t match up neatly.
Astros are also apparently interested in Willson.

How do we feel about Rowan Wick as a "sell high" candidate?
So much team control left. Does he have another level in him?
