If it is you and Dave will be happy, because he'll be a Bulldog
       next season.

Rebel, not Bulldog…that’s those agriculture majors from down
       South in Starkville…

does this mean the cubs go cheap the rest of the way to help pay
for ferris or do the other rounds just get a certain amount?

Cubs certainly going with some risk with these two picks, but
they are definitely getting some upside.

Depends on what Horton is signing for. The rumor was the Cubs
we’re looking to save on the first round pick. If Horton was
looking at full slot at 10 they could save around $700,000 by
giving him $5 million. There second round pick has $1.6 million
bonus slot. If his ask is $3 million they probably go senior
signs in the 6-10 rounds. If they aren’t saving much on Horton
then they probably have to punt the rest of the draft if his ask
       is $3 million.
The Cubs seem to love the IMG lefties.

I'm a lot more comfortable with the level of risk with Ferris
than with the 7th overall pick, especially considering who was
       still on the board.

if they sign ferris then it might be worth the risk but if not
then it is a waste. I just wish they would have gone best
       available with both picks.

Top 10 round picks usually have an agreed upon price before the
pick is made and very rarely don’t sign.
If you drafted Parada or Lee at 7 you probably don’t get Ferris
at 47. The Cubs came away with 2 first round talents with their
top 2 picks. Both have a chance at being a #2-3 starter in
scouting terms, which is a 3-4 WAR player or an all-star level
       pitcher.

well it looks like this time next year we will have another top
pick. and the year after that and maybe the year after that

I wasn't surprise by the Rocker going #3. None of the mockers
knew where to put him. I really wonder if he had still been on
the board at 7, when our brain trust would have done.
