Should "paying" for a GM to switch teams be an exception to not
       allowing trading of draft picks?
They'd ask for first round, but I wouldn't go higher than the
       third round.

I would offer Jeff Samardzija and Josh Vitters.

I'd say "Suck it, we'll take Cherington instead" if they wanted
       anything of real value.

Big surprise - Bob Brenly is no fan of Aramis Ramirez
       Just one of the reasons:

       --- Quote ---
       >
       > "A lot of pitchers would never go public with this information
... double-play balls that aren't turned because Aramis takes so
long to get rid of the ball to get it to second base. He's
gotten a number of second baseman just clobbered out there on
double-play attempts. In the grand scheme of things it may seem
like a small thing but over 162 games, the double plays that you
don't turn that lead to more pitches for your pitcher, that lead
to more opportunities for the opposition.

       From Bleacher Nation:
       --- Quote ---
       >
       > Bruce Levine dropped an interesting thought on the radio
yesterday: Levine says a big part of the reason the White Sox
were able to get so much in return from the Marlins for Ozzie
Guillen was because the Fish had been making overtures at
Guillen for the better part of a few months. Thus, when it came
time to put together a trade, the White Sox had a theoretical
tampering charge to hold over the Marlins’ head – in
other words, the Marlins had to make the White Sox happy.
       >
       --- End Quote ---
It would be nice if the rumors about Ozzie already talking to
Zambrano turned out to be true and the Cubs could get the same
kind of leverage in Zambrano trade negotiations with the
       Marlins.
