When we had more experienced LBs like Lance Briggs, they were
quicker to recognize those screens. When you have a complement
of pass rushing backers like Mack and Quinn, it's easy to do
screens against them. They shoot up the field and the play's
happening behind them. The two insiders need to take it on at
that point and with the safeties deeper it can mean a big gain.

Quinn and Mack are backers in name only - they predominantly
play as 4-3 DEs. The difference is addition of the nickel back
- basically we run a 4-2-5. And that 5th guy is the smallest
defender.
The ILBs have to sniff out the screen better and the corners
need to keep an eye on the defender and an eye on the QB - that
can be difficult in man situations.
Did you notice JJ covering Odell Sunday? Bears rarely do that
in the past.

Eddie Goldmans return is good for shiit. We are getting gashed
up the middle when he is in there. And another Eddie Jackson
whiff tackle attempt. On the other hand Robert Quinn is playing
like he is possessed this year. And Jagy should just hand the
ball off to Montgomery, period. And when Byrd and Goodwin our
speedsters catch a pass, it will be their first. I kind of
wouldnt mind the Bears losing this game, as it would be the last
nail in Jagy's coffin, but that will come soon enough.

Also Hicks took himself out of the game on that first drive,
havent heard what is wrong with him, but he hasnt returned.

-Nice win. Losing Montgomery for any extended amount of time
would be brutal.
-Bad Olines can hold up against decent opposing dlines at home
if they follow assignments. Detroits dline looks bad.
-Lazor gameplan/playcalling will beat the weak teams on the
schedule. maybe if fields gets good fast they can beat good
teams in chicago.
-I liked Fields game today. Made mostly good decisions and
throws. the decision making will speed up
-our d line was great today. Gipson showed up when given the
chance. Quinn being dangerous again is huge.

Deon Bush's play, while not great, was better than what we get
from Tashaun Gibson.
Is Jimmy Graham still on the Bears? 4 games into the season he
has 1 catch. Not only did I not see him on the field, I didn't
see James or Horsted either. ???
Eddie Goldman isn't listed on the stat sheet!
Mack - one tackle, Darnell Mooney - one tackle.
188 rush yards with only 9 from Fields. A miracle.
this game was much closer than the score shows. Detroit failed
on 4th down twice when they had short field goals they should
have taken. They fumbled on the weird snap play inside the 5.
They could have beaten the Bears.
