Schwarber is probably going to get overpaid because he's coming
off a career year, so I think Conforto is probably the only LH
free agent that would kind of fit.
How about Dominic Smith as a buy low option to try to get some
LH pop? The Mets don't really have room for him anymore and he'd
probably benefit from a change of scenery. He looked like he was
developing into a star in 2019-20 (.299/.366/.571 with 21 HR in
396 PA), but was bad last year. I bet it wouldn't be hard to get
him from the Mets at this point. If the Mets want to drop a
little salary, I wonder if the Cubs might be able to get him
cheap by just taking on a bad contract (I'd guess they'd
probably want to dump Carrasco's $12 million at this point, and
he'd be a nice LIAB candidate for the Cubs).

       Jesse Rogers @JesseRogersESPN
The Cubs are closing in on a 1 yr deal with Clint Frazier,
source tells ESPN. Was released by the Yankees recently.

Frazier's wiki page already lists him as Chicago Cubs. :)

??? I'm not in the know. He's had cancer? Or he's a clubhouse
       cancer?

Reading between the lines on a lot of reports out of New York,
he seems to cause waves. Not sure what the issue is. Seems to
think more highly of himself than his manager and general
       manager.

Obviously an overpay for Gomes, but who can afford to overpay if
not the Cubs? He provides insurance if Contreras gets dealt and
would still get ABs if (when) the DH get stuffed down our
throats if he doesn't. Someone who's regarded as good with
young pitchers who can be a steady hand, and no one else on the
       horizon in the organization.
