Bummer. No idea how he actually influenced players or was able
to communicate with them. But at least to my brain, in his
interview in the Athletic last spring, he seemed 10 times
smarter, more communicative, and more analytical than Iapati.
I would have liked to have been able to keep him. Kinda
surprised the Cubs didn't hire him themselves, actually.

Losing Valiaka hurts, but the Cubs seem to be back on a role of
hiring quality coaches. Getting your staff picked over is
encouraging.

Reds.

Not a bad pickup if they add a couple better/higher upside
starters. But if they're relying on him to be the #2 after
Hendricks, what's the point?

Miley was 15th in NL in ERA among qualifiers.
Miley had 5 starts against Cubs in 2021.
3-0
2.40 ERA
Averaged 6 IP per start.
That’s a good waiver pickup. Helps to be high up in waiver
priority.
