someone. If he stays in the Theo tree the Dbacks org would be
really interesting. If he goes outside the Theo tree somebody
from the Rays/Dodgers tree would be at the top of my list.

Or Giants.

Giants President of Baseball ops has worked under
Beane/Friedman. Their GM worked for the Cubs under Theo, he was
the guys they made eat cake during playoff games.

Not knowing much about any of them, but wouldn’t Rodriguez just
have to jump out as the most interesting of the bunch? The Cubs
could use some of the Rays international scoring and development
mojo.

Without knowing anything about them Troll and Rodriguez jump out
on paper. The Indians have a history turning out pitchers so I
could see the Cubs being interested in their process.
The Rays have a history of the job titles not actually matching
responsibilities to try and make it harder for teams to raid
them.

Well, relocating shouldn't be a problem since Chicago has plenty
of bridges to live under.

Fun to be getting this wrapped. I like the notion of getting a
guy who's young, hypothetically smart, hypothetically energetic,
and hypothetically a good communicator. I listened to an
interview with him last week when he was mentioned as a
candidate, and he seemed to speak reasonably well. I also
thought it was interesting that Cleveland websites immediately
mentioned him as the lead candidate for Cleveland to hire, if
their GM went to the Mets.
Will be interesting to see what he's able to do with the Cubs.

Sharma/Mooney kinda updated the story.
It sure sounds like Hawkins was brought to run player
development side of things and not so much to Jed’s sounding
board.
