The Bears did indeed try to finagle a trade for Seahawks
       quarterback Russell Wilson.
According to Dan Patrick, Chicago offered three first-round
picks, a third-round pick, and two unnamed starters for Wilson.
       The Seahawks, obviously, passed.
The problem, from the Bears’ perspective, is that they hold the
20th overall pick this year. And if they have Wilson, the future
first-round picks likely would landed in the 20s as well.
The only remaining question is whether some other team with a
higher spot in the 2021 pecking order decides to make a similar
effort. The Jets, for example, have pick No. 2. The Dolphins
have pick No. 3. The Panthers hold pick No. 8.
Again, the Seahawks haven’t drafted a quarterback in round one
       since 1993, and they’ve only ever used a first-rounder on a
quarterback twice. Even if they didn’t use the 2021
first-rounder from Wilson’s new team on his replacement, the
2021 first-rounder needs to be a lot closer to No. 1 than No.
       32.

How do you go from " OMG the Bears HAVE TO HAVE Russell Wilson
here's Halas Hall!!" to Andy Dalton? I'm missing something

What i read on that is Carroll came in the last second and nixed
the deal. I've always hated the man going back to his USC days,
but I think he just kept a desperate Pace from crippling the
Bears for a few more years. It would have taken at least 2-3
years to put a serviceable team around Wilson with Pace having
limited cap space and picks to do it. I have to think the
unnamed starters would have been Johnson for sure, maybe Kmet or
Nichols or Mooney. Likely our best young players.
I thought Dalton was our best, realistic option last year so I
think he can be a league average qb if the line isnt horrible.
I know it isnt sexy or popular, but I'd be happy with
Dalton/Foles/2nd or 3rd round qb as our depth chart.
I think the bears with Dalton at qb and keeping our picks and 2
young starters is better than the gutted bears we'd see if they
traded for wilson or watson next year.

Definitely agree. We are much better off. If we improve the line
and improve the receiving corp. We should be competitive

It could be worse - if they don't draft a QB early or draft some
guy in round 5 or 6.
I dunno - I just don't see the Seahawks trading Wilson and
starting over and I certainly don't see the Bears being a
trading partner. If they wait until June 1 - our 2021 draft
pick will have already been chosen.

Or if Speed Bump Charlie keeps his LT job ,we will be rid of
Pace and Nagy next year. I just dont see the Red Rifle as
someone who is going to run Nagys system the way he wants it
       run.

the seahawks were never going to trade Wilson, it was all just
fake news from sportswriters who were just stirring the pot.
Dalton is worse than Trubisky. Foles/Dalton is a disaster.
At least this means Pace & Nagy are gone after this year.
What a clusterfluke. I can't believe there are morons trying to
       defend this crap.

Yeah, I would agree. I just don't see this going well really at
all. Trubisky was terrible at reading defenses and being able to
hit receivers downfield but at least he was fun to watch,
especially when he scrambled. So would I rather see a totem pole
back there or a guy able to run and juke with his youth with
both results as losses......probably the youthful juking guy.
With the Bears, ya gotta find the excitement where ya can.....

I'd rather see a guy who can read defenses and hit a WR in
stride, in the hands, with a tight spiral...and who won't check
it down and throw a 3 yard pass on 3rd and 12.
Hopefully our line will be improved enough to protect that guy
       sufficiently...

I would expect that to be contingent on this upcoming draft in
April but we dont have a 7th round pick this to use on another
       Leno
