As long as Rodgers is still a Packer - they will be the
favorites. And it doesn't matter who plays QB for the Bears
this year.
BUT lets see who the Bears can get in R2 and R3 - the gap may be
closing.

Kind of excited about this:
The Bears drafted Oklahoma State offensive lineman Teven Jenkins
in the second round on Friday. It’s now looking like he’ll be
the Week 1 starter at left tackle.
Chicago is releasing left tackle Charles Leno, according to
multiple Monday reports. A former seventh-round pick, Leno
started 93 consecutive games for Chicago dating back to 2015,
making the 2018 Pro Bowl.
Leno was a seventh-round pick in 2014. His release will create
$6.2 million against the Bears’ cap, though it will also result
in $5.1 million in dead money. He was about to enter the final
season of his four-year contract extension signed in Aug. 2017.
Leno, 29, may not be out of work for long, as there are still
teams — like the Colts — looking for veteran tackle depth on
their respective offensive lines following the draft.

Well that just about making my fears jump right out of my mind.
See thats what my problem with the draft was. Its not that I
didnt like the first 2 players its what he had to give up to
acquire them and diminishing what
behind them we could fix. There just wasnt anything left to fix
holes with. Now we just made another hole with the Leno
termination. And dont sit there and tell me that Artie Farty is
going to replace Fuller. Dont sit there
and say Jenkins will be a great LEFT tackle, or that the Mizoo
flash is a solid RT. That baloney just wont cut it with me.
Maybe, just maybe with the June cuts some LT capable player hits
the street. We clearly need some
help and Pace couldnt have cut Leno before the draft because
that would have made him look dumb as well as bad. Just plain
stupidity.

I guess Pace believes that Jenkins can step in at LT. Bears
must feel that Ifedi can handle RT. Wilkinson and Bars could be
backups. I don't think that Borom is an NFL RT - he's a guard.
Yeah, there's a risk of cutting Leno and assuming Jenkins can be
productive on the left side. But there's also the benefit of
the net $5M of $6M cap money from his release that may be needed
for the rookies.
Right now RCB is a battle between Desmond Trufant and Kindle
Vildor. Artie Burns with FAs Roberson and Joseph will again be
given shot but they are longshots. Bears drafted rookie Thomas
Graham in the 6th round - nothing stands out with him other than
he makes interceptions. 8 in 3 years and he dropped since he
sat out his senior year.

Along with the #Bears drafting future LT Teven Jenkins, Chicago
also took OL Larry Borom in the 5th. In a year where everyone is
tight against the cap and forced to make tough financial
decisions, the Bears save $9M with this move. It will be a
post-June 1 cut.

it’ll be Germain Ifedi, Elijah Wilkinson and rookie Larry Borom

So with a June cut the Bears save 9 mill cap space. They might
even buy a LT off the street in June. Charles Leno will be
available. Maybe they pick him up.
