When news broke that the Bears were talking to free agent wide
receiver Kenny Golladay, Allen Robinson quickly signed his
franchise tender, fearing that the Bears would pull the
franchise tag if they signed Golladay and that Robinson would
end up having to settle for less than the $17.9 million
franchise player salary.
But Robinson’s signing doesn’t necessarily preclude the Bears
from signing Golladay.
Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports that the Bears are
still offering Golladay a one-year contract in the range of $11
million to $12 million and trying to sell him on the idea of
playing alongside Robinson as one of the top wide receiver duos
in the NFL.
Robinson and Golladay together would give Andy Dalton a better
pair of targets than Mitchell Trubisky ever had in his four
years as the Bears’ starting quarterback. But it remains to be
seen whether the Bears’ financial offer for Golladay is one he
would accept.

Most Bears fans would love a Bears WR trio of Robinson, Golladay
and Mooney. That would be top 5 in the league.
BUT, why would Golladay want to take a 1 year deal, share the
ball with a pro-bowl quality WR, go to a team with a very
average journeyman QB and a manager and head coach on a hot
seat?
$ - there will be lots more cap next year.

- A lot of players are doing 1 year deals for the exact reason
you listed.
- The Manager and Head coach are not on a hot seat. As much as
fans want them to be they are not.
- The new TV deal just signed yesterday will make contracts go
up significantly beginning next year is one of the reasons
players are doing 1 year deals.

On the Golliday thing...
Bringing him in gets ARob to sign. The Bears may have just been
kicking the tires thinking of rescinding the franchise tag on
ARob.
Playing opposite ARob means he may not face the #1 CB/double
teams as much.

Golliday wants $18.5 mil. Bears offered $11. Seems pretty far
apart.

Chris Simms said that the Bears never made that offer to the
Seahawks, and that they just floated it out there to save face.
He thinks they may still trade Wilson closer to the draft, to
someone.

On Russell Wilson - did either organization admit there was an
offer and it was rejected?
BTW, surprisingly Golladay is only a couple months younger than
A-Rob, yet A-Rob had 3 more NFL seasons.
Enough of this rumor shit, time to watch some NCAA basketball.
Go Illini Go Longhorns

Seattle has no plan to trade Wilson, they don't want to trade
him, they have never expressed the slightest intention of
trading him.
