Jim Deshaies @JimDeshaies 3h
@LenKasper was a big part of me coming to Chicago. I cherish our
time in the booth and am happy you get to scratch that radio
itch. Good Luck my friend!
It sounds like JD might know something we were not aware of.

Well I'm sad for us, but happy Len's getting to live out a dream
with a team on the rise. Hopefully he'll get to call a Cubs-Sox
World Series at some point!

I'll miss Len, but I'm also glad the Cubs didn't feel the need
to give him the Cubs radio job...

I wonder how much not having key games to do because of Fox and
ESPN had to with his desire to do radio along with having to do
tv from a studio this past year. I also wonder about all those
"expert analysts" they kept foisting on the duo. Most of us
here were annoyed with them, so I'm wondering if Len was annoyed
too.

I'm skeptical that this is really all about Len wanting to be on
the radio. I think the writing was on the wall this year that
Marquee wants to take broadcasts in a different direction going
forward. They never really seemed to buy into JD, and it felt
like Dempster or (less likely) Grace was being groomed to
replace him. Radio may be something Len wants to try out, but I
also think he might not want to work at Marquee long term. If I
had to guess, I'd expect him to be back in a more lucrative TV
role within a couple seasons.
Benetti's a rising star in sports broadcasting, so it wouldn't
be surprising if he just moves to ESPN full time when his White
Sox contract is up. Maybe Len will be calling games on TV for
them within year or two.

@MLBastian
Len Kasper says "radio was embedded in my soul." Says any anger
from Cubs fans should be aimed at him, because this was totally
his decision based on wanting to change mediums.
I take Len Kasper at his word about his reason for taking the
job with the Sox. Several people who know him have confirmed his
strong desire to do radio play by play, including his desire to
call World Series games, which would only be possible as a radio
guy.
