You do this kind of thing too much but I should point out that
you didn't mention some of the guys that Robles at 110.5
exceeded in max exit velocity in 2019. They include Mookie
Betts (109.3), Arenado (109.9), Votto (109.5), Gleyber Torres
(109.6), Anthony Rendon (107.7), Bregman (107.4). Robles at
110.5 was just a tick behind Bellinger (110.6).
I'm sure that it was an accident that you didn't mention those
guys.

I’d trade Bryant for Robles. Robles likely more talented than
anyone we’d get with the picks we receive for Bryant.

Still see no way Washington makes that trade. Not unless we eat
a bunch of Bryant's salary this season.

Good point. Not sure who's going to want to both take on
Bryant's salary and to give up valuable talent besides. It's
not even clear he's worth the salary, and most teams are going
to be budget challenged after the season behind and with the
upcoming season likely to be revenue-compromised as well.
It's also not certain that counting on getting draft picks for
Bryant is a lock. Bryant's been unproductive in two of the last
three seasons. *IF* he has another so-so year, will it be safe
to trust other teams to buy him off of the 1-year offer; and if
not to pay him that much versus spending that money on other
guys? Cubs will presumably lose a bunch more money this season
with distancing remaining in effect for a variable while.

I see some folks running w/this quote from Jed, & let me
supplement that he ALSO included words like "practice" &
"messaging" & "coaching" when talking about how CURRENT guys can
look and feel and perform differently next year. He was careful
not to say it was about transactions.

Jed Hoyer announces that Chris Valaika will take over as
assistant hitting coach. Valaika was the team's minor league
hitting coordinator. They'll continue to conduct a search to
replace Will Venalble as third base coach. Venable was named
bench coach in Boston.
