Theo won't get his salary this year, so that $10 million will go
back into payroll. That's not insignificant.

From the Cubs press release on Theo leaving the Cubs, is this
reminder of just how good the Cubs have been in the last six
years, in spite of the disappointments.
"After rebuilding seasons in 2012-14, Epstein’s Cubs have
amassed 505 regular season victories since 2015, second-most in
the N.L. and third-most in the majors behind only the Dodgers
       (528) and Astros (510). The Cubs are one of just four clubs to
make at least five postseason appearances in the last six
seasons, joining the Dodgers, Yankees and Astros."
As die hard Cub fans, we should and will always treasure what
       Theo accomplished.

Theo’s legacy in Chicago is obviously a hell of a lot more
complicated than it looked like a few years ago. Ultimately
anyone who does what he did - ending a 108-year drought many
thought would never be ended - gets a statue. He conducted
himself with class and dignity (as he always has) and forever
changed the culture of the Chicago Cubs in a positive way.
For all that though, it can’t be denied that the post-title
record is a mixed bag at best. And that he leaves the
organization in what seems like a pretty ragged position, with a
bunch of departing underachievers and a weak farm system. Is
Hoyer someone you should really have confidence in to be the
person to lead a revival? I’m not, personally, though there was
never any doubt he was going to be the next in line.

Theo was amazing for the Cubs and anybody trying to attach a
yeah but argument to it is a fool.
I'd really like to know who was the driving force around the
player development and front office last year. If Jed was the
driving force behind it, then put be all in on Jed. If he
wasn't then we'll see how and what Jed does differently before I
       make any decisions on him.

Theo wrote a really good farewell letter to his Cubs colleagues.
That last several paragraphs are particularly lovely. Aside
from his many other gifts, he is a fine writer.

Rumors circulating Theo could join the Biden administration in
       some capacity.
