What's coming from the farm system besides Brailyn Marquez? Not
very much.

Amaya? Davis? Christian Hernandez eventually. Overall not a
lot.

The intrasquad games in South Bend were no substitute for 144
AAA or AA games.

Flip side is Bryant, Rizzo and Baez all under performed and the
Cubs still won the division.
With COVID affecting teams finances and all the Cubs players
being expensive with little control the best course might be to
play it out next year.

True enough, but 2020 was just a write-off of a year generally.
What a chain of disaster it's been.

I would add Alzolay to the list of what might be coming from the
minors.

Is Theo history?
Gordon Wittenmyer @GDubCub 54m
When Theo signed the 5yr/$50m extension that runs thru 2021, it
was viewed as his final contract in that position (because of
his long-held, 10-year-shelf-life philosophy). So does he choose
to hand off to Hoyer 1 year early (+ presumably free up $10m)?
The scoop by @thekapman
NBC Sports Chicago @NBCSChicago 1h
Theo Epstein will meet with Tom Ricketts to discuss the timeline
of his exit, sources tell @thekapman

That'd definitely be interesting if he moves on this offseason.
It might also give us a little more leeway for a rebuild or at
least a significant retooling. Hoyer would definitely have a
lot more leeway to hit the reset button on a lot of things with
this team if he's running the show on his own.
