Lester scatters 5 runs over his inning of work. Down 12-4 in
the 8th.

Midseason form. And I'm talking about Craig here.

Wasn't the report that AA's velocity was meh as well?

Had Weick not been?
I wonder which and how many of the pitchers have some health
issues, and are on special slow-track?

Brothers in mid-90's with strikes, that would be an awesome
comeback story.

Darvish scheduled for Saturday, Hendricks tomorrow.
Hultzen not seen yet through first handful of games.
Kimbrel obviously being held back.
Q not scheduled for any games for at least a while. One of the
TV guys did say they saw him today, that he was tossing off a
mound on a back field.

Article about Ross wth flu said Q had gotten it, too. Explains
why he's behind the other starters, rather than any sore arm or
anything.
Article about Darvish had Kimbrel throwing with him. Hottovy
never really explained why they were planning to have Kimbrel on
a slower schedule than the other guys; I'm not sure what injury
issues exactly he had and what kind of rehab/recovery process
may have been involved? Hopefully there's nothing enduringly
wrong physically, and he'll get enough work to be both
physically ready when the season opens, but also hopefully sharp
with his stuff.

Relievers don't need a ton of work to get up to full steam.
Weick seems to be the only guy to have some concern about.
Pet Peeve, Quintana and Ross had a viral gastroenteritis and not
the flu (influenza) from the sounds of their symptoms.

I agree, strength-wise and velocity-wise.
I wonder about control, though? Seems to me that sometimes a
reliever gets into a good groove one season. The next, he gets
off to a wild start, then struggles to ever get back into the
groove. (Sometimes that gets amplified because usage declines
when performance deteriorates.) .
Perhaps so few March innings contributes to the unpredictability
of bullpen performance?
Or maybe that makes no sense. The plate is the same
size/distance in bullpens; and whether facing March
minor-leaguers versus facing Mike Trout. So perhaps getting
mechanics locked in to be able to locate pitches can be as
easily optimized in practice as in game situations.
