Alzolay looked fine. Getting hit a little bit is not indicative
of how his stuff looked...

Adbert Alzolay had the GOOOOOD curveball working in his inning,
throwing it comfortably for strikes and also burying under bats
for whiffs. I know we (and he) talk a lot about wanting the
changeup to come along because it has so much potential, but
let’s not forget his signature pitch. The fastball looked a
little low on life today, but that’s to be expected on February
24.

Movement on the fast ball is more concerning.

I agree. But on the first outing of the spring, it isn't as
concerning as it would be late next week. Especially since
fastball movement has not been a problem for him in the past.

For me I think about it a little bit differently. That's been a
problem for him that's known that his fastball is just flat and
doesn't have a lot of movement. I'd want to see him coming to a
spring training and from the word go show some improvement on
that fastball.

I just feel like AA's massively important fo our future and even
our present and I would have felt a lot better if he hadnt got
rocked.

At this point a spring training it doesn't matter if he gets hit
hard like Dave said. It's more important to see the velocity
movement on pitches shape on the breaking ball.
It sounds like the shape on the breaking ball was definitely
there... But the fastball was in fast but completely flat with
no movement. Major league baseball hitters in 2020 are too good
to be fooled by a 96 mph straight as an arrow fastball

Lester scatters 5 runs over his inning of work. Down 12-4 in
the 8th.

Kyle Farnsworth demonstrated that without movement, even fast
than that is still going to be hit.
