The biggest issue we have as a league is keeping all owners
engaged for the entire season.
Anyone with ideas for that, I’m all ears...

I think fantasy baseball is just more prone to drop off because
of the length of the season. This league being a keeper league
people will just know going in that they don’t have a chance and
that will limit interest.
With the way the league is set up on waiver claims I certainly
understand the desire to limit those moves, but I feel like
limiting the flexibility of picking people up limits some
interest. I spent a decent amount of time debating if I really
wanted pick up this guy vs holding back a waiver claim.

Keeping owners engaged and taking care of their teams has been a
problem for as long as I can remember. I have no solutions.
CBJ, you are correct. We have 13 keepers. That makes it hard
for bottom teams to rebuild. And you are correct that many
people would fear taking a bad team, but the team that's up for
grabs this year is a good one. It probably should have won last
year and will compete again this year. Matter pf fact. we
probably should have a lottery to see if anyone wishes to take
it and contract their current mess.
As Commissioner, the reason I keep fighting to not contract the
league any further is that the smaller it gets, the harder it is
to find people with which to trade. When I joined, the league
had 20 teams. We had fewer players per team, but, yeah, most
of our picks in the 9th and 10th rounds were total reaches.
Then we contracted to 18. Now we are down to 16. Hate going to
15. Won't be long before we're at 12. But maybe that's our
destiny.

I still think a playoff of some sort could help. Maybe a first
half champ against a second half champ so those out of it after
a bad start still have a chance and stay engaged.

We did entertain the idea, but the thought that the best team
all season should prevail prevailed.

I have gotten an offer from CBS to sign up now for $30 off.
Speak up today if you object to staying with CBS.

Just added another late season competition incentive idea in the
Winter Meetings topic.

Today is the last day to find a new owner. If we cannot find
one, like Joe last year, we will need to contract. One less
owner to trade with, one less division to win, one more dollar
per owner for fees.
The Circle has discussed several ways of having monetary rewards
for staying competitive during the year, but we don't want to
become so expensive more owners need to leave.
Counterproductive in a way. Rather than implement an unpopular
plan now or even vote on one, we've chosen to continue to debate
merits on the board with you. Any plan involving paying in a
little extra for rewarding division winners, etc., would not be
put in place until 2020, if ever.
I will let you know about this year's fee once I know whether to
divide by 14 or 15. tico is free this year. We will also need
to vote on expanding the rosters should we contract.

Does mO want back in? I know he's still on the boards from time
to time...
