Yes, and while I do think it hurts to have tanking teams I don't
know what the solution would be. A monetary penalty, or any for
that matter could keep people from joining or staying.

Issue 1 passes. Thank you.
To clarify to all, we already had a rule in place that owners
could DL players who were not actually DLed by their teams
because in September many teams don't bother to do so because of
expanded rosters. However, our rule for September DL's left
those of us making the changes struggling to be fair in judging
the situations. All we're saying is we want something more
concrete to make the changes in the future.

The only times we allow a player to be DLed in September is that
documentation is provided that clearly states that the player is
shut down for the season.
Can we define what “documentation... that clearly states” means?
For example, CBS has an update saying “player X is likely shut
down for the season due to...” but no official DL move is made
by the MLB team. Does that CBS note constitute sufficient
documentation for DL in our league?

[/quote]In your example, "likely" means I ain't doin' it.
Documentation is something from the team, league, or news source
that ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY, WITHOUT QUESTION, refers to a
player as out for at least two weeks or more.

This coming Thursday is the absolute deadline for finding
another owner. Failure to do so, automatically means
contraction of a team. (Contraction is easy. You won't like
what expansion would entail some day in the future.)

Ok now I’m curious how would expansion work?

some sort of protect 5, rest of your players can be raided by
the new owner.

Would their be limits on how many players each team could lose?
Would minor leaguers be included? Would there be a separate
minor league portion?
The expansion team would get a deep 13, but they would be
lacking in Star players. If you did a fewer number of protected
players and then after every round teams get to protect more
players they would have a pretty strong team. It would really
compress the standings however it was done.

20+ years, and we haven’t ever expanded, and I doubt we ever
will...every season it gets increasingly tougher to find new
owners.

Yes, expansion would involve fewer keepers with owners able to
take back players each round.
But, yes, I agree with my buddy Dave, it ain't likely to happen.
Each year BBF has lost posting members. Most who leave our
league also post much less often on the board as well. The last
few years we've been lucky to get a couple of Aussies and Doc.
Yet 4 or 5 years ago we had 3 guys interested.
A key to survival of our league is getting more people posting
here again. Not sure what that will take.
