Javy is getting better at English but still needs to learn his
Cubs history, particularly about people who had monster Opening
Days back in the '90s.

I think the Cubs have found a way to mitigate concerns about the
bullpen.

Way to bring home the win, guys! Cubs are undefeated, Lester
had some good velocity, Brach had some velocity, Cubs hit HR's.
Great start!

The Cubs had not had a game with 8+ walks, 12+ runs and 25+
total bases since Sept. 13, 2017.

That was a nice game in that all the hard-hit groundballs went
through. The same sharp grounders up the middle on another day,
and they're all outs or double-plays.
Lester right up there at 98 pitches. Nice game for him. But I
hope Maddon doesn't push him too hard early.
Huge wind. Lester did well to not allow more wind-blown HR's.

So much has been made about a "sense of urgency" this spring...I
noticed it on the base paths yesterday.
Getting good reads on base hits into the outfield, going first
to third without hesitation, taking the extra base as Zagunis
did on his hustle double...all little things that add up...
Sometimes a 25-man roster needs guys like Bote and Zagunis to
bring that urgency...guys who are fired up to be in that
clubhouse, and damn sure don't want to leave.

Good point. Heh heh, who would have ever guessed 15 months ago
that Mark Zagunis and David Bote would both be in the opening
day starting lineup for 2019. Or that Rosario would be pitching
a nice quick 1-2-3 inning on opening day? Or that Bote would be
starting at 2B and Zagunis in LF while Happ was down at Iowa?
