Wims was the guy I was touting before the draft. Not sure why
he slipped to 7th round, many had him tabbed a 4th rounder. If
he continues to perform, hard to stash him on PS, and not sure
what his value will be on special teams.
that "unnecessary roughness" call was horrifying
The one against the Bears in the end zone I did not understand.
The defender did not lower his head and he hit the receiver with
his shoulder to the chest and facemask on his arm first. I
thought it had to be lower the head and hit with the crown of
the helmet. I hope the Refs are still learning that as well in
preseason and they learn that should not have been called on
that play. If it was correct and that is the intent of the rule
they might as well put flags on everyone.

FWIW
1. New helmet rule stinks... badly. None of those "Personal
Fouls" should have been called......
1B. New kickoff rule so far is "meh".
2. Fowler III we barely knew ye..... and won't from here on
out....See ya....
3. D didn't look too bad. Secondary was usually in the right
place. LBs were up and down. Not too worried (yet).
4. Tyler Bray is 6'6"" of horrible QB. If he were 6'3" or less
he wouldn't be on any team. He's better than Glennon was, but
that's a very low hanging fruit.......
5. Javon Wims seems quite good.. gets open and catches that
oblong brown thing very well even on badly placed throws....
6. Think they are OK on RB depth.
7. Football is back ! At least it was a game of sorts..... :D
Go BEARS !

I tried to focus on offensive and defensive line.
Defensively, Roy Robertston-Harris and Jonathon Bullard each had
sacks and were active but they don't hold the point of attack as
well as the departed Unrein. Rookie Bilal Nichols also had a
sack. So I think the DE position is in good shape along with
Akiem Hicks. Backup NT John Jenkins looks like he lost a few
pounds and made a nice hustle downfield tackle.
Super impressed with Isaiah Irving. Nice speed and bend on the
pass rushes. And Kylie Fitts was almost as good pass rushing
but better against the run. I liked the draft pick at the time
and now I really like the draft pick. We'll see how they do
against better competition as we progress through the PS.
Offensively, Jordan Morgan struggled from the get-go. He's
basically a rookie but he looks like a project (read practice
squad). Rashard Coward who just converted from d-line to RT was
raw but I thought did OK considering. Bradley Sowell's play
makes me value Charles Leno even more. Watford could make the
team as a backup. But I don't think I saw Grasu or Daniels out
there...maybe I wasn't paying as much attention in the 2nd half?
Grizzly's guy Wims looks like he has a good chance to make the
team. The announcers said he wasn't a speed guy but he ran a
respectable 4.53 and has length and can track the ball. Ayers
looked much faster than his 4.7 combine times - but that time
was from a couple years ago when he was a rookie.
Chase Daniels makes Mark Sanchez look good.

I was a little disappointed in Bullard and Robertson -Harris
considering they were up against the bottom of the Ravens
roster.
Bilal Nichols looks like he has a burst that will give them
competition.
Wims vs Tanner Gentry, the result was pretty clear.
HMMM, backup guards and left tackles wasn't looking very
promising.
Shaheen played but all the passes to him were ten yards up the
field, stop and turn around. Ravens jumped that several times.
Didn't see the LSu corner that they say has been so good in
camp.
I thought Fitts looked slow. He had a hard time with that big
right tackle. Will have to see more of him next Thursday.

You're going to get more pass rush out of Bullard and Robertson
but Unrein was underappreciated for his work in the
trenches...and as I said before he will be missed. The good
thing is we have 3 young DEs to help out Hicks - so you can't
complain too much.
Agreed - I didn't see Tolliver either. Michael Joseph looked
OK, he did whif on a tackle though.
Fitts was credited with one sack. Should have had another but
flushed the QB into another Bear lineman for a sack. Had
several pressures too. I thought he held up well going against
the behemoth rookie from Oklahoma. And on one play held his
position against both Orlando Brown and another Raven on a sweep
that ended up going the other way.
He doesn't have quite the burst of Irving but he has some good
pass rush moves, plays the run, and he looked OK dropping back
into pass coverage. I'm really looking forward to seeing more
of these 2 guys.

I kind of found this depressing as well as alarming:
HTML https://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/bears-mitch-trubisky-preseason-ravens/
Trubisky’s debut in Nagy’s offense likely will come next
Thursday against the Bengals in Cincinnati. But even then, he’s
expected to be limited to a possession or two.
I see it as a tradeoff between experience and exposing him too
much and I dont like that. As complicated as the offense is,
Trubisky needs all the reps he can get. I could see where he
only plays a couple of series the whole preseason then gets
thrown to the wolves against the Pack in the opener. Thats
asking for a defeat. Ya gotta beat the Pack, its a division
game. If the playoffs is the goal, in a tough division, ya gotta
win division games.

This is nothing new. Typically Bears have 4 PS games (HOF is
the 5th).
1st game starting offense will get a couple series. 2nd game
starting offense gets maybe a quarter or so. 3rd game starting
offense gets a half. 4th game...starting offense sits.

I read Tolliver didnt play because he is just coming back from a
minor injury.

I am glad they didn't kick the extra point and go to OT last
night. Either win or lose a preseason game. Don't go to OT.
Hell preseason games should just end it a tie after regulation.
