i That's OK, Curt, you've still got Adam Greenberg and his
career 1.000 OBP, which leads the Cubs.
There should be an asterisk after that record, since
technically, he never actually reached base.

Okay, I was researching the 1994 strike and realized something
weird. During the '94 strike(the waiver deadline of 8-31, Dave
Winfield was traded for an unamed player of the Indians.
Winfield was dealt from the Twins and the two GMs settled the
deal over dinner; the player was never named.

That is most likely because the player to be named was someone
who was going to be picked from a couple of different lists,
depending on how well Winfield did for the Indians. Since the
strike eliminated the rest of the season, and Winfield became a
FA after the season, the Indians really didn't get anything out
of the trade, so they got nothing back.

I think Jody Davis has a better shot than Durham, but I, too,
think it's Sandberg.
