i That's OK, Curt, you've still got Adam Greenberg and his
career 1.000 OBP, which leads the Cubs.
There should be an asterisk after that record, since
technically, he never actually reached base.

You can blame DaveP for Thrusday's question now, Curt.

Okay, I was researching the 1994 strike and realized something
weird. During the '94 strike(the waiver deadline of 8-31, Dave
Winfield was traded for an unamed player of the Indians.
Winfield was dealt from the Twins and the two GMs settled the
deal over dinner; the player was never named.

That is most likely because the player to be named was someone
who was going to be picked from a couple of different lists,
depending on how well Winfield did for the Indians. Since the
strike eliminated the rest of the season, and Winfield became a
FA after the season, the Indians really didn't get anything out
of the trade, so they got nothing back.

I think it's Sandberg, too, but I'll guess Leon Durham just for
       giggles.

I think Jody Davis has a better shot than Durham, but I, too,
       think it's Sandberg.
