Quite frankly, broadcasters who harp on it are being lazy. There
are a lot of other story lines to talk about with Lester. The
guy has overcome cancer and pitched the Red Sox and Cubs to
World Series wins. Every time a runner gets on they harp on it
and yet how many times last year did it cost Lester a game? How
many times did it cost him a run? He had the best stats of his
career last year with his "enormous" problem so excuse me if I
yawn.

Wow Robb. I could have done without the yawning comment. Was
it necessary to make to get your point across or were you
personally attacking me for some reason?

I dont think he meant you... i think he meant he yawns when the
announcers discuss it.

Exactly, I'm tired of the announcers getting on a narrative and
showing under unwillingness or inability to drop out. That's
whatI like aboutSmoltz. He provides true analysis as the game
moves along. The Lester stuff is tied and only relevant to key
situations in the game yet, it sure didn't hurt him last year
that I can remember.

Regarding Oh usage yesterday, think there's a case to be made
that best move would have been to bring in lefty Cecil to pitch
to Schwarber...and then go to Oh to face Bryant.
What I said yesterday was that "not a big deal" to bring in Oh
to get five outs in these circumstances, which think is right.
Didn't say Deeg's garbled "perfectly normal" but rather a
reasonable move with your well rested, usually effective closer.
And, no reason to lament Maddon's non-usage of Davis with Cubs
never having the lead.
Realize that incessant second-guessing of managers is part of
what we do but if there's a reasonable basis for the move, then
not a big deal for me.

An enormous problem? Like the same one he had last year and the
year before when the "enormous problem" meant utter failure for
him as a pitcher both seasons?

Assuming nobody ever got hurt (which won't happen, of course) I
would imagine the plan is for Zobrist to start about 120 games.
It's ironic that Baez has pretty much stepped into the role
Zobrist used to fill in TB, and which nobody else has really
duplicated. And it's Zobrist whose playing time suffers a bit
because of it.

This is an interesting lineup. Zobrist getting time off this
early after an off day. Contreras over Montero due especially
with Arrieta on the mound. Almora over Jay as well.
I agree with Deeg that they are going to try and limit Zobrist
to get him more rest.
