Well, to begin with the scouting reports on Happ have always
been that he was weaker from the right side, and he was 100 OPS
points lower last season. I think that's just a major general
concern, period - there's no evidence he can be a league-average
hitter right-handed based on his numbers so far. And I think
the 23% k-rate against minor league pitchers indicates there are
some holes that good pitchers will be able to exploit. The
swing from the right side is long and loopy to my eye - better
from the left, obviously. He's not a huge guy and doesn't have a
lot of lift in his swing, so he never looked like a big-time
power guy to me. Obviously if his spring numbers are a true
sign that he's a legit 25-HR type, that makes the swing and miss
a lot easier to live with. We'll see.

For me, a "hole" in a swing for a hitter is either a type of
pitch or a pitch location that the hitter can't handle very well
and can be exploited, or a pitch recognition issue--aside from
the great fastball on a corner or breaking ball with depth that
nobody really handles well in the big leagues.
Most switch-hitters have non-identical swings from each side and
most are better from left-side. Yeah, Happ has prettier lefty
swing. But didn't read anything in your post that is indicative
of a "hole" from either side.
At MB in 2016, Happ was basically identical from both sides and
was better from right side at Eugene in 2015. Each year, better
from left side after his promotions. So, remains to be seen how
big a disparity he will have.
If Happ can play the infield, think he's going to be a plus
regular in the big leagues.

I assume that the typical non-switch hitter has a lower OPS
against pitchers of the same-side than against pitchers of the
opposite side. Does anyone know what is typical for good
hitters?

Basically, there are a couple of prerequisites and routes for
Happ to be something more than a solid roster piece. He needs
to prove he can play multiple positions (including 2B) well
enough to make versatility a big piece of his value. He needs
to prove he can hit lefties well enough not to be a liability.
Or he needs to develop so much power that he's an asset as a
platoon LF.
Right now, I think all of those are major question marks - and
I'd place higher importance on two seasons of minor league stats
than a few hot weeks in the Arizona sun. A great spring is
certainly encouraging, but far from a game-changer. Happ has
enough going for him that he seems very likely to at least be a
serviceable major league player, so that's a good thing. I think
that makes his placement somewhere in the bottom third of a Top
100 prospects list pretty realistic.

I'll admit the number of at bats I've seen of Happ is limited,
but I disagree that he doesn't have lift. In fact, from the left
side that is his most notable trait so far from what I've seen.

FWIW Law did a periscope yesterday and Happ came up twice. Law
thinks he can play second base, but he couldn't be a CF.
