Sounds like we just need a lil bench turnover every off season
after each subsequent world series win

MLB Trade Rumors linked to an Orioles blog that suggested the
Orioles trade Zach Britton. He mentioned the Dodgers and Cubs as
possibilities and from the Cubs he mentioned Soler+ as a
possible target. No clue on how much this is a thing or a bored
       guy writing a blog.
A few other back up catcher replacements would be Ryan Hannigan
from the Red Sox and Rene Rivera. The Mets might offer Rivera a
starting job though. Norris from the Padres might be another
guy. Hannigan and Norris being much better against lefties isn't
ideal for a backup to Willson.

Don't want to get too political, but considering all that Cub
leadership has accomplished in very recent years, this
Presidential election feels sort of ironic.
In their search for the BEST possible answers to 108 years of
unanswered Cub questions, Theo and his Team left NO stone
unturned. They used an abundance of analytics, but WAY more
than that to uncover the truth. For example, when there
conflicting thoughts in the organization on which foot was best
to cut bases, they did their own testing...now, right foot hits
the base in the Cub Way teachings (and when Kris Bryant scored
from 1st on a single Wednesday night).
Simply, our leadership has been the best in the business over
the past 5 years...by FAR! They are the smartest AND
       hardest-working guys in the room...and it's showed. We're the
beneficiaries of their unbelievable efforts, transforming the
bare cupboard they inherited into a freaking World Championship
(built for the future)...too bad someone like Theo isn't running
for the highest office in this country on Tuesday.

Thinking that doing a good job running a baseball team would
equate to being a desirable president is one of the nuttier
       ideas floated here.

I just got through watching a Johnny Carson rerun from about
1982, with Walter Cronkite as a guest. I had forgotten that
there were quite a buzz about Cronkite running for President at
       that time.
Epstein would probably be more qualified.

I don't think you'd want to vote for him...

I wouldn't want to vote for either Epstein or, at that time,
       Cronkite.

I don't have much of a problem with what Montero said. Assuming
Joe didn't discuss Montero's postseason role with him, he was
just being honest about how he felt.

Simply because something is an honest statement does not absolve
the person saying it of all responsibility for the statement.

Would Grandpa Rossy make a good bench coach?
       [/quote]
I had expected him to remain with the Cubs in some capacity like
that thru the regular season, until seeing an interview with him
Wednesday when he was talking about on of the reasons for his
retirement decision was that he wanted to spend more time at
home with the family, that he did not want to be away from them
thru the season. Hard to imagine him being a bench coach only
       during home games.

The Cubs have declined their option on Jason Hammel. Very, very
surprising to me - even if you didn't intend to use him in 2017,
I would have thought at that cost he was a trade asset.
