No way the Cubs rely on Schwarbie as the #2 catcher next season,
if they ever do again. But I'm not so sure either that they're
going to be willing to eat Montero's $14 million salary and just
let him walk. Maybe they can find someone to take $3-4 million
of it and bring in someone like Ellis or Suzuki.

Oh I'm sure the Cubs will have a third catcher to replace Ross.
I'm guessing the third catcher doesn't play as much catcher as
Schwarber, though, at least if things go according to plan.

Agree. Montero has to understand that his hitting came around,
he calls a good game, but his throwing sucks. He's getting
older and that's a skill he's losing.

Who's the second string catcher?
Schwarber, or possibly some version of Ross, but not $13M
Montero and his attitude.

Upon hearing rumors that the Rockies were interested in (Dave)
Martinez for their managerial vacancy, Jesse Rogers (ESPN
Chicago), confirmed as much with a league source. Obviously,
that’s quite a bit away from formally asking the Cubs for
permission to interview Martinez, but that could come soon now
that the World Series is over.
Also, don’t expect the Cubs or Joe Maddon to stand in the way.

Would Grandpa Rossy make a good bench coach?

I don't have much of a problem with what Montero said. Assuming
Joe didn't discuss Montero's postseason role with him, he was
just being honest about how he felt.

I think we should have all learned by now to stop saying "no
way" on anything when it comes to Schwarber.

Don't want to get too political, but considering all that Cub
leadership has accomplished in very recent years, this
Presidential election feels sort of ironic.
In their search for the BEST possible answers to 108 years of
unanswered Cub questions, Theo and his Team left NO stone
unturned. They used an abundance of analytics, but WAY more
than that to uncover the truth. For example, when there
conflicting thoughts in the organization on which foot was best
to cut bases, they did their own testing...now, right foot hits
the base in the Cub Way teachings (and when Kris Bryant scored
from 1st on a single Wednesday night).
Simply, our leadership has been the best in the business over
the past 5 years...by FAR! They are the smartest AND
hardest-working guys in the room...and it's showed. We're the
beneficiaries of their unbelievable efforts, transforming the
bare cupboard they inherited into a freaking World Championship
(built for the future)...too bad someone like Theo isn't running
for the highest office in this country on Tuesday.

Had to googly myself not sure what exactly Morrissey trying to
say about the situation. It's like he's grasping at straws to
find negativity
Oh come on. Rick Morrissey would never do something like that.
No more than Skip Bayless would.
