I agree. I can't see Contreras sitting more than once a week at
most. Same with Schwarber.

Unfortunately, Montero chose today of all days to come out with
some rather peevish comments in the press. I can't imagine
that's going to endear him to the administration much when
they're tried so hard to build a leak-proof boat of positivity.

It's interesting. I was wondering how LaStella, Rondon, Grimm,
Hammel, Soler, and those guys rarely contributing would react.
Montero might be speaking for more than just himself. Maddon
definitely likes to rely on a select few in the playoffs unless
forced otherwise.

Montero doesn't really have much of a role on next year's team
anyway. You really don't want a $13 million third string
catcher.
I imagine he's on his way to being a salary dump or outright
release at some point this offseason.

When I was coaching, sometimes a parent would come to me saying
his son didn't understand his role. I always responded, "He
knows his role. He just doesn't like it." And, frankly, more
often than not, it was the parent who really didn't like it.

Maybe the Cubs are ready to give up on Schwarber being a catcher
after the ACL tear, but if not, he's probably getting the second
most playing time at catcher next season I would imagine.
