CCO says Bruce Levine has been reporting that Cubs interested in
trading for Padres' Travis Jankowski as the lefty CFer.
I remember him against Cubs this season. Kind of pesky but can
be overpowered with heat; looks to walk when he can; very good
defensive CFer; very good speed; no HR power at all; can leg out
some doubles and triples; high Ks for a hitter like this.
Pre-arb--that's attractive.
Not too exciting but can see the fit. Defense, speed, low
salary. Could see a pairing with Almora.

Nice rumor, reb. "Complementary" and "affordable", fits those
factors pretty well.
His platoon numbers look like they'd fit well. Better OBP
orientation than Heyward, so could be a nicer platoon leadoff
candidate. Obviously limited enough that there would be no
drama in reducing his role if Almora's performance justified
doing so. Obviously with Schwarber and Soler in the corner
landscape, there is role for defensive replacement.
Maybe they'll get somebody better, but this seems totally like
the "complementary" caliber guy I'd expect they'll get.

I've seen a lot of Jankowski and yes, he's just the caliber of
player I'd expect Theo to target. Brings enough to the table
(good D, great speed, might not be awful vs. RHP) to potentially
play a major role, but not somebody who has to have 400+ ABs.
He does have a very good glove and he's certainly a burner.

I suspect the plus would have to be at least as valuable as
Zagunis, if not more.

Janikowski would be interesting. Levin also mentioned Blackmon,
but that seems like a reach. He's going to. E really expensive
if he's traded at all.

Rocks might have some interest in Soler in a Blackmon deal,
imagining what he could do in Denver. I've been skeptical of
Blackmon for the usual reason, but his splits last year were
impressive.

If it takes two guys at/above the Zagunis level, then probably
too costly for the complementary bench guy role.
I've got Zagunis at #10 on my Cubs prospect list; don't think I
want to give up two top-10 guys for a complementary defensive
specialist.
