It's Reb who's been on about him for the longest. I just like
the fact that he's a terrific player but if that doesn't float
your boat, it is what it is.

Inciarte had a UZR/150 of 14.9 in CF good for third in the
league for the Braves and a wRC+ 97. Nearly all of Inciarte's
WAR comes from defense and a little bit from base running.
Almora had a wRC+ of 101 in his limited time with the Cubs. I
think it is quite possible Almora can put up league averageish
offensive numbers and great defense and decent enough base
running. That will get you right in line with Inciarte.

Inciarte has a .753 career OPS vs RHP - if you think Almora is
likely to match that next season, more power to you.
Defensively, he's like Almora but fast. No comparison.
I think it's highly debatable whether Inciarte would be worth
the likely cost to the Cubs, given their other needs. But I
don't honestly think there's much of an argument that he's not
likely to be a much better player than Almora for the next
couple of years.

There's a wide spectrum of opinions on here regarding what
Almora is, and where the Cubs are on that spectrum has a huge
influence on what they do in the offseason. Drives it, really.
We don't really know what they think right now, with some
caveats--I recall reading something to the effect of Joe thinks
Almora is a future star, or superstar, or something like that.
I'm on the rosier end of the spectrum. I think they'll go into
next season thinking that Almora will be the primary center
fielder. Your Mileage May Vary.

Inciarte OPS vs RHP by year
2014 .691
2015 .828 (.872 in Arizona that year)
2016 .728 (wRC+ 94)
One of those seems to not fit.
Almora last year put up a .724 OPS vs RHP.
Inciarte has been successful stealing 68% of the time the last 2
years. If he is fast, somebody needs to teach him how to steal.

From MLB.com:

> Inciarte may not be Billy Hamilton or Dee Gordon, but he can
move. Of players who had at least 200 home-to-first trips
measured by Statcast™ this season, Inciarte's average time
ranked as the ninth fastest.

At least to some degree, that speed has shone through in
Inciarte's game. For example, over the past two seasons, he is
seventh among all players with 16 bunt hits.

That's from 2015, but a couple things
1.) LH hitters have quicker home to first times, because they
are closer to first base. I'm not sure this is a super accurate
way to judge his speed.
2.) Being a good bunter is skill and can be independent of
speed. For instance Ben Zobrist had 4 bunt hits in 2016.
Inciarte had 2.
3.) I would be really interested in Inciarte's speed in the
field and on the bases vs Almora, but that data isn't in the
public. I would guess the difference isn't as big as you think
in Inciarte's favor.

For arm strength I can find 1 video of each player making a
throw from LF. Almora throws it 91 mph. Inciarte throws it
93.8 mph.
