Rollins in 2015 was averaging 92+ and topping out at 95 with
blah results in 25 innings. He also had a PED suspension.
2016 he threw only 9 innings in the majors. According to Brooks
he started out averaging 92, by the end of the year it was 90.
The results were bad in the majors and at AAA he had a 3.77 ERA
and 6.35 K/9.
My uninformed guess is he's a guy they will try and waive later.

Yeah, MLBTR speculated that Cubs will try to get Rollins through
waivers, as Cubs are #30 on the waiver claim priority list.
Everyone else already passed on the guy in order to get to the
Cubs.
But, obviously the numbers don't tell the whole story here.
Otherwise, Cubs wouldn't bother to put in a claim. This is a
scouting decision.

This is AZ Phil's take on the Rollins claim:
David Rollins has no restrictions as far as being outrighted
during the off-season (he isn't a Rule 55 player so he doesn't
have to sign a 2017 contract before being outrighted, he isn't
an Article XX-D player so he can't elect to be a free-agent if
he is outrighted, and he didn't end the season on the DL so he
didn't need to be outrightred prior to 11/20), and since the
Cubs have the last waiver claim priority and were able to claim
Rollins, it should be fairly obvious that no other club was
interested, so look for the Cubs to almost immediately try and
outright Rollins to the minors, just like the Rangers did with
RHRP R. J. Alvarez after claiming him off waivers from the Cubs
in September.
So there is no reason for the Cubs to keep Rollins on their MLB
40-man roster. They just need to put him back on Outright
Assignment Waivers and wait a couple of business days for the
waiver to be secured, and then they can send him outright to
Iowa. If he wasn't claimed off waivers, he certainly won't be
selected in the Rule 5 Draft. And if outrighted, he will remain
under club control through the 2017 season (just like Dallas
Beeler).

Hoyer was on Buster's podacast. Schwarber is 2 months away from
being fully cleared. Hey we're shocked he was cleared to hit in
the playoffs. Hoyer views him as a LF next year, but the FO
still isn't giving up on him catching.

Cubs add Caratini, Underwood, Leathersich, and Hannemann to the
40 man roster.

Hannemann is kinda surprising. If the 26 man roster goes
through, he'd be an interesting playoff pinch runner/defensive
replacement.

Glad they put Leathersich on it. I think he would have been
taken, and I would much rather keep him. I am surprised about
Hannemann. I didn't think there was much of a chance he would
be claimed. Looks like the Cubs think more of him than his
stats would indicate.

I think the one conclusion that you can draw from Hannemann's
inclusion is that he is a legitimate major league defensive
centerfielder.

With at least some potential to contribute offensively at some
point.
