Scherzer wins Cy Young by a big margin. Hendricks 2nd. No
doubt, the fact that Scherzer had about 40 more innings pitched
than Kyle was a big factor.
On MLB Network this a.m., it was noted that IF Hendricks had
pitched the exact number of innings as Scherzer AND Kyle had
averaged a FULL earned run for every one of the 40 or whatever
innings Scherzer had over him, Kyle's ERA would still have been
below Scherzer's.
Scherzer is tremendous. An ace. And Kyle Hendricks was better
this year! (the real question is whether Hendricks was better
than Lester, who was other-worldly from the 2nd half on)
Doesn't much matter...our Cubs have the rings!!!.

Hendricks and Lester probably split the vote to some extent.
Honestly, I would have voted for Lester. But Scherzer winning
is not a travesty. In the end we got the only thing that really
matters, the WS trophy.
Though, I think we can expect Bryant to take home some
hardware...

Scherzer got 25 of the 30 first place votes. Lester and
Hendricks got three combined. Only way that Hendricks/Lester
"split votes" could have affected anything is if voters torn
between Lester and Hendricks opted to vote for Scherzer
instead---as a compromise vote---which is far-fetched.
Voters preferred Scherzer, period.

If you say so, it must be true.

Lots of talk among Pittsburgh talk show that they will try to
trade Andrew McCutcheon this winter. They should get a ton for
him.

Why don't you explain how vote splitting as to Lester and
Hendricks could have affected the final vote for Scherzer,
instead of making snide remarks.

You can't really split a vote among individual players in MLB.
It's not like teams are vying for the awards with players
representing them.
On the award itself, I found it odd how so many broadcasters
were calling either Hendricks or Lester the probable CY winner
during the playoffs. It seemed obvious to me that the baseball
media had made Scherzer the heavy favorite two months ago,
putting it into everyone's head that he deserved it.

The reason they don't come with big contracts is because the
controlled SP available in exchange for Happ or Szczur or
Candelario type prospects tend not to be very good.

Under what imaginable scenario would it NOT be true?
When the winner gets 25 of 30 first place votes, how could the
2nd and 3rd place finishers possibly have "split the vote" in
such a way as to make any difference?
Aren't you one of those who periodically makes cracks about how
one or another other posters always have to be right and can't
admit when they are wrong?

In the unlikely event that arb decisions were at all impacted by
Cy Young awards, Hendricks not getting it won't hurt the Cubs
budget.
