As to Rays, not sure that Soler is a great fit for them. Seem
       pretty well set in OF.
Obviously, Rays would love to get Baez. Archer is under control
for FIVE more seasons, so huge value there.
Would be pretty adventurous for Cubs to deal Baez. Guess that
would solve OF glut, with Zobrist going back to 2B. No clue if a
good idea to pursue something like that. Kinda doubt it, as Baez
now so integral to Maddon's position player rotation and infield
defense. On other hand, always thought Baez' greatest value is
as somebody's starting SS. Would really miss watching him
everyday--such a fun player to watch. Let somebody else make
       that decision.

Archer really impressed me in 2015. Last year, not so much.
Based on last year, Baez is too much.

Baez has only scratched the surface of his potential. He should
       not be a chip.

ROFL, Reb still trying to get Baez included in a trade. Not
       happening.
The terrible FA market for started has every team with a
controllable SP (or several, like the Rays) in the catbird seat.
And at this point, after two meh seasons, Soler's value is
being way overestimated on this board.

It would "solve the outfield glut" (which does not harm a team)
at the expense of eliminating the flexibility Maddon loves
(which would harm the team). I doubt the Cubs would trade Baez
for anything other than a trade offer that just blew the
       Theocracy away.

Probably by some, but it would appear it may be way
       underestimated by others.
My guess is the Theocracy is not eager to trade someone of
Soler's potential at a time when his value has cratered but
could easily be restored with a decent start in 2017.

I agree. Baez is a valuable player right now, and has the
potential to be twice as good in the future. Even though
potential is often not achieved, I would not trade him for a
pitcher, especially since we have very little need for a pitcher
       next season.

To me, Baez+ for Archer would be a no brainer, assuming the "+"
wasn't too outrageous. Just my opinion...I'm still not as
convinced as most here that Baez's bat will ever be consistent
enough to turn him into a star, and I believe Archer is already
       a star.
I don't think the Cubs are getting a long term starter for Soler
at this point...at least not one who is likely to be any better
than Montgomery. Inconsistent, injury-prone hitters with
questionable defensive skills just don't have much trade value.

       To you they dont.
We got a real good young starter for Vogelbach so you should be
able to get twice that for Soler.
Looking at Cleveland and LA's shit lineups I bet they would have
       loved to have had Jorge.

Archer in 2016, at age 27 in in fourth full season in the majors
had a WAR of 1.8. Baez in 2016, at age 23, in his first full
season in the majors and in only 450 AB had a WAR of 3.4. In
his four full seasons in the majors, Archer has only once
produced a WAR better than 2;5.
My guess is that the Theocracy will be more impressed with their
respective WAR in 2016 and their respective ages in producing
those figures than it will be whether you or I view either of
them as being a star, or becoming one.
