Szczur-or-replacement? Two guys who both play CF and
defensive-switch, but neither of whom hits much? Maybe, as in
       my Coghlan-Almora-Szczur-LaStella-Montero suggestion.

If Dex leaves, a LH pure defensive CF is a must-add IMHO, even
       if it's a bench player.

Interesting to speculate whether an AL or NL team would have the
edge with Otani. Make no mistake, he wants to hit, and he can
be a great ML hitter - but does the DH rule help or hurt an AL
team's case? Otani is more than athletic enough to play RF or
       1B.

Why? The Cubs could go Schwarber, Heyward, Zobrist for an all
       lefty OF.

I think you need an option if Heyward as an everyday CF isn't
going well. And Almora against RHP probably isn't it.

Here is the list of free agent CF's. Almora had a .724 OPS
against righties in the regular season in a small sample. Given
his defense he's perfectly fine in CF vs what ever free agent is
out there. Heyward was fine defensively in CF too, so even if
his bat continues to struggle he's an option.

I'm nervous that *if* Heyward doesn't bounce back, and you
partner Almora with another guy in center who can't hit, you'll
have auto-outs in both CF and RF. Don't think that's good for
the lineup, and puts too much pressure on the other six guys who
are expected to be producing all the runs consistently everyday.

       If you've got a so-so defender at one position, I don't think
that compromises the ability of the other guys to play to their
ability. But I think when the hitting gets too thin, the other
guys try to do too much and it compromises them, too.
I think Heyward and Almora already give you two pure-defense
       guys. Don't necessarily need a 3rd.

The hypothetical guy wouldn't have to be much of a stud to
produce better numbers than Almora is likely to against
       righties.

I think that Almora will get the bulk of playing time in center
field, and that will include a large number of games against
       right handed pitchers.
