Bleacher Report has us taking Liuget in the 1st (passing on
Danny Watkins who goes to the Steelers), and the C from TCU
(Kirkpatrick) in the 2nd. This is with all the top-rated
O-Linemen except Watkins off the board by 29.
Not sure how I'd feel about that. Liuget might be OK as a first
year contributor but considering that only a serious injury will
get Kreutz out of the lineup this season we could well wind up
having our 2nd round pick not playing a down this year. Which
really isn't acceptable. BTW Kirkpatrick is only the 9th best C
in this class based on the site I checked.
If we're gonna go DT in the 1st then our 2nd rounder really has
to be someone who can win one of the OG spots or the RT spot
outright and thereby be a first year contributor.
That same Bleacher Report draft has the Colts taking Carimi in
the 1st and the big Cannon kid from TCU in the 2nd... which
pretty much kicks our ass right across the room.

Bucs would be thrilled with Clayborn here.
       21. Chiefs Anthony Castonzo OT Boston College Chiefs need WR,
but Costanzo is great value at another need.
       22. Colts Nate Solder OT Colorado Still learning the position,

       23. Eagles Gabe Carimi OT Wisconsin Eagles consider CB Jimmy
Smith here, but go the safe route.
       24. Saints Muhammad Wilkerson DE Temple Former team captain and
       Temple defensive MVP.
       25. Seahawks Jimmy Smith QB Colorado Seahawks roll the dice on a

       26. Ravens Derek Sherrod OT Mississippi State Addition could
push Michael Oher back to right side.
       27. Falcons Brandon Harris CB Miami Instead of reaching at DE,
       Falcons add potential contributor.
       28. Patriots Mark Ingram RB Alabama Danny Watkins make sense
here, but Ingram too talented to pass on.
       29. Bears Marvin Austin DT North Carolina Major bust potential
with this pick, but the top OTs are gone.
       30. Jets Justin Houston OLB Georgia Explosiveness will make Rex

       31. Steelers Danny Watkins G Baylor Possesses enough versatility
to play every position on the OL.
       32. Packers Akeem Ayers OLB UCLA Considered overhyped, but
upside opposite Clay Matthews is intriguing.

How to get a quality OT in the first? There aint that many and
they are going to go fast.
If youre Tice and Martz you gotta be in angelos ear...
which has never happened before under the angelo reign.
They just might get thru to his gourd to keep him from punching
       the ticket on a DT.
Which is where you KNOW he wants to go.

Which is where you KNOW he wants to go.
We know that. And why woudnt he? He dumped Tommy Harris. That
DLine is a friggin mess. We get no pressure up the middle which
puts more pressure on the secondary to cover and we know how
weak the secondary is. But it could be adequate if we could get
       some pressure up the middle.
I surely wouldnt blame Angelo for drafting a DT at #29, provided
its a player capable of starting and being an impact

Interesting how two months ago you could hardly find any mock
draft with an OT in the Top 15... now we're a week away and
you've got 2 or 3 of them as consensus Top 20 picks.
FWIW here's a scouting report on Costanzo:
A tall, natural athlete for the position who displays good
length and above-average athleticism when asked to reach the
edge. Does a nice job sitting into his stance off the snap and
is very comfortable playing from a three-point stance. However,
isn't as technically sound as advertised. Struggles to
consistently keep his base under him and will bend at the waist
and overextend into blocks — especially from a two-point stance
       — and his footwork on his initial kick-slide isn't the cleanest.
Has a tendency to get a bit overextended, will open up his hips
prematurely and get caught with his feet parallel to one another
vs. speed to the corner. Now, is a natural athlete with fluid
hips and displays the ability to cleanly/quickly redirect and
cut off blocks inside and counter moves. However, isn't real
heavy handed and doesn't have the kind of power to simply lock
out and keep defenders from pumping their legs through contact.
Displays good range and body control on the move in the run
game. Is natural when asked to get around defenders and seal on
perimeter runs, and he looks comfortable chipping at the line
and reaching the second level as well. However, again, doesn't
generate much power from his lower half on contact. Has a
tendency to roll his hips into contact and doesn't get much
movement off the snap. More of a finesse guy who understands
angles, leverage and does a nice job of getting his hands inside
on the target, but lacks the natural strength to simply
       eliminate defenders from the play.
Impression: The size, length and natural athleticism is there,
but he needs more time to mature physically. I don't think he's
a guy who you can pencil in as a starter on the left side from
day one, but with some time he has the skill set to eventually
develop into a serviceable starting left tackle in the NFL.
However, as of now, isn't an elite offensive tackle prospect by
       any stretch in my book.
Started off his college career at right tackle but then moved
over to the left side. Was only about 260 pounds as a freshman.
Has gotten bigger and stronger every year and should max out at
about 315 - 320. Like most Boston College linemen, he has been
well coached. Is best as a pass blocker where he sets quickly,
has good lateral agility and the body control to recover. Has
good hand use and plays with bend. Where he needs improvement is
in lower body strength and bulk. While he is a steady run
blocker, he is not consistent at getting movement and I have
seen his legs give out at times when run blocking. You can also
see this when he is up against a bull rush. While he can bend,
his anchor ability is average. He as the athleticism to play
left tackle and played some guard at the Senior Bowl, but until
he improves his lower strength that is not the position for him.
Overall, he will probably get drafted higher than I would take
him. I like his toughness and techniques, but the lack of lower
strength and power scares me. He is not a real "wide body" and
there have been too many times in the past where players like
this haven't changed when they got to the NFL. If that's the
case, he will only be an average pro.
