I guess with DManning possibly leaving via FA we needed some
insurance. I mean shoot we don't know for sure if Major Wright
can even play. We are pretty sure but he hasn't really done it
yet. Maybe he is a cover 2 corner but usually when they announce
their position that is what the coaches have in mind.

From what I read and never saw, I think I'd like to judge him on
the field. If he can play free safety that would be huge.
Compared to Jason Sehorn in terms of size, length and speed.
Whether he is ever that player, we shall see.

How do you pronounce our new DT's last name, Paea? He likes to
think of himself as a disrupter, appreciates John Randles game
and has a lot of strength. Our new Tasmanian Devil??
I hated Randle on the Vikings spending more time in our
backfield then our QB, I'd love to see it turn out that way.

I like the first two picks. Although DT dropped due to a knee
injury...haven't heard anyone bring that up yet. I hope that he
will recover fully, but there was a touch of risk there IMO. I
think he will be a stud.
The S is a bit of a head scratcher in the sense of why did we
not just trade down and pick him later? Could it be NO ONE
would trade with Angelo after the trade fiasco? Seems like a
reach of a pick. Although he will be an impact on ST. Seems to
be a sure tackler with good physical attributes to develop into
a playmaker. Does sound/seem raw. So next year I am thinking
ST. Major Wright is a more of SS, and this kid is future at FS.
Is the 3rd round too early for developmental player? I think
so. But they did not have 4th round pick and must not have felt
confident he would be there in the 5th (I am not so sure he
would not have been).
So far good draft, although Conte has me wondering...why did we
not trade down.

The Bears traded with the Redskins to get Paea. So that theory
is out the window.
Besides the Ravens did the exact same thing to the Vikings a few
years ago. Ozzie Newsome told the Vikings it is not a trade
until I confirm it with the league. When they wanted a pick he
told them to go to hell. Now he wants different rules when he
is on the wrong end of it? Plus this time the Ravens got the
player they wanted and so did the Bears. I believe the Vikings
got skipped several times as teams kept putting their picks in
if I remember correctly.

I agree that the Conte pick is typical Angelo over reaching for
a player that would have been there later. I am guessing since
they didn't have their 4th round pick they figured he wouldn't
last until the bottom of the 5th.
I hope he is a great player for the Bears but will probably be
another Stelz. Plays on special teams and spot duty at safety.
With a third round pick you would like to get a year one
starter.

I think I read that Paea did 49 reps at the combine. Yikes.
Like that alot. And on the radio they were pronouncing it

So far pretty happy with the draft. The S pick is a head
scratcher for sure. If Manning leaves we may all be happy we
got him. So we only have 2 picks left, for a total of 5. And
Angelo said he wants to get 4 starters out of each draft. Best
not have any busts then...

I am certain our first and second rounders will be starting this
year. That is WAY better then Angelo usually does...

Agreed. Now as long as no freak injury sidelines them we should
be in good shape. And I can see Conte getting on the field as
well. Chris Harris moves to SS, and Conte and Major Wright
battle for FS. I like it.
