Yapper, like Angelo has said, an OT doesnt have to be a 1st
round pick. Look at last year when the cat came out of the bag
that the Bears were interested in an OT. What happened? A 7th
round pick was spent on Webb. All the time along I thought they
were going after a big OLman from Wisky. It didnt happen. The
Bears might invest in a 2nd or 3rd on a OLman but I just dont
expect them to either trade up or use 29 on a OLman unless its
somebody special they think is a potential superstar or better
than they could get later in the draft. They just dont value
OLmen. Look at Asiata, a FA. They have a history of that.

I agree. I'm a lot more comfortable with the odds of Henry
Melton giving us what we need at DT this year than I am with any
of the OGs on our roster doing likewise.
I'm inclined to think Angelo/Ruskell will go the other direction
in that scenario, though... grabbing Austin and leaving Watkins
for the Steelers, Packers or Pats. Given their love for DL and
disdain for OL especially on the interior.

Sorry, I dont think Melton has enough to be a starter to replace
Harris and we still dont know if Adams is coming back either

I think if Watkins and Austin are on the board the Bears take
Austin. And IMHO either player fills a need. I believe the
bigger need is to replace Harris whom they cut. And Adams is a
FA.

Agreed that replacing Tommie is critical. It's just that Austin
is a much riskier pick than Watkins.
I don't have to be convinced that if it comes down between those
two, Austin will be the pick. I completely believe that's what
would happen. What I do have to be convinced of is that that's
the right choice.

I saw a mock draft today that has us taking the CB from Texas in
the 1st, and Drake Nevis in the 2nd.
If I'm Jay Cutler and that's how our draft goes down, I announce
my retirement on Saturday.

I dont like Nevis. Too small. But we do have a need for a CB. I
cant visualize Angelo taking one that high. The championship
game did expose a CB problem though.

CB won't help us if Cutler's on the IR by Game 3.

You act like they can't pick up some offensive line help via
free agency. I don't see doom and gloom if they don't get an
offensive lineman with their first round pick like you do. But
I do believe they'll draft one anyway to please you. :)

A big part of the CB problem was lack of a pass rush
