According to the GBN fan mock draft we picked OG Watkins. I
wouldnt be too bummed if that is who we took. At least I
wouldnt be saying WTF???

Watkins would be an immediate upgrade over Chris Williams at LG
and possibly Garza on the other side too.
His shelf life as a 27-year old rookie is very short but as a
guy who could come in and help the weakest unit on our team
immediately, he would be a solid, safe pick IMO.
That being said, don't be surprised if the Patriots take Watkins
one pick ahead of us. #1 cause they have to replace one or
possibly two starting OGs this offseason, and #2 just to F us.
At which point Angelo will make one of his patented "panic
picks" and we'll wind up with somebody that spends the first
year on IR, the 2nd year on the practice squad and gets cut the
3rd year.

Shi-t. Scratch this guy off the board:
HTML http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/04/26/source-marcus-cannon-tests-positive-for-lymphoma/
He's huge strong guy that could have helped us at OG or possibly
RT... and would likely have been available down into the 2nd
round.
Now he may fall much farther than the 2nd round, but who wants
the next Gaines Adams on their hands? Best case, even if the
chemo takes he'll probably be on IR for the year while he gets
his strength back.
Bad break for the Bears but terrible news for the kid. I hope
he can beat this thing and catch on someplace in the league.

Do you like the NFL draft? Because if the players win it is
gone. Every team will bid for the players coming out of high
school and college.

What makes you say the draft is gone? Dont see that going. What
I do see is a having a set scale like the NBA. The current crap
of 17 Mill guaranteed money for these kids coming out of college
is assinine while veterans who have been producing get squat.
But yeah I like the draft.

Andy Dalton with the 8th overall pick?
HTML http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/04/26/report-titans-coaching-staff-divided-on-no-8-overall-pick/
Andy friggin Dalton? Seriously? I can understand the new Titans
coaches wanting to put the Vince Young thing behind them but
have they lost their minds? He's Cade McNown 2.0.

Just checked GBN for the first time in a long time.
Thanks for reminding me Boogie!
They have us trading with KC to move up to 21 to take Castonzo.
We give our 29 and 93.
GBN has us taking Jarvis Jenson DT Clemson with the second
round pick.

Costanzo would have to start Day One at LT and be a noticeable
upgrade to be worth that hefty price. And even then we'd have no
ammunition left to go after an upgrade at one of the OG
positions and/or a replacement for Kreutz.
The Jenkins pick would square with Angelo's M.O... DL from a
warm weather school who needs quite a bit of development. I've
also seen us taking that DT from South Florida who is undersized
but apparently has looked terrific in various workouts since the
end of his college season.
