I was yelling "go for it".. early in the game, early in the
season, on the road, heck yeah, go for it!!! If they make a
clean exchange we wouldn't be having this conversation..

He would have made it if the snap was clean.
I still don't think the Texans gained an inch let alone a yard
on their QB sneak. That ref crew was bad. Don't get me wrong
they screwed up calls on both teams but they sucked.

It was not the smartest decision. He messed up the snap because
he had Wilfork to block.
If you were paying attention you'd have seen that the Texans did
not line up anybody over the center. He messed up.
Next week the Bears will eliminate QB sneaks, as well as out
patterns to White and will tell Deonte Thompson to not return
any kickoffs into the end zone.

Can we set up a gofundme account for Cutler's medical expenses?
Alternately offer it as bonus to the O-line to keep Jay alive
each week?

Not to make excuses but this was a top 3 defense in the NFL last
year (5th in sacks) and Sunday's game was on a fast track on the
road.
Whitehair is not only a rookie but has had virtually no time at
center coming into his first game. Sitton was signed after the
preseason. There will be hiccups but they'll get better as the
season progresses. Bears just got to be smart about protecting
Cutler and Langford needs to step up is protection.
What I am most concerned about is Massie. He looks a step slow.

I've watched Massie since his freshman year at Ole Miss.
He was overrated then (5-star my ass), and he's overrated
now...he's better than "just a body", but he's not a guy you
take pride in having...

The best thing the Bears could do to strengthen their offensive
line at this point is to move Long back out to right tackle, and
use the combination of Josh Sitton, Larsen and Whitehair in the
middle of the line. It’s much easier to hide a guy like Larsen
in the middle of the line, then hide a guy like Massie on the
outside.
Long struggled at right tackle also last season, so I'm not sure
that's a significant upgrade, plus Long now has a bad right
shoulder.
Massie gave up 7 sacks in each of the last 2 seasons at Arizona
- so we know he wasn't elite talent. Let's see what happens
next week - but I'll have an eye on #70.

One thing I heard from either tom Thayer or Olin Kreutz was they
thought that having the tight end helping on Massie's side in
that environment may have contributed to his confusion. There
were times it appeared that he didn't know who to block and
someone would come through untouched. So partially a scheme
issue in their opinion

Dallas, you're wrong. He was lined up on his nose and the VERY
first thing he did when he hiked that ball was hit Wilfork, dead
on. And then the announcer tells the tale of 'he had a grand
total of 10 snaps at center in the preseason.' Don't tell me it
wasn't in his head that Wilfork was across from him and it
didn't affect him. That's a helluva lot to ask a vet to deal
with much less a rook...
