I'd be carefully with any changes to scoring. It may just be
me, but I feel like offense is about to go back up.
If any changes were made to balance hitting/pitching, I prefer
the idea in the link to use ip. It seems least likely to reward
or penalize folks for no reason.

I'd like to suggest that we open up UP roles to pitchers again.
Within the context of our present scoring system, which still
skews towards pitching, restricting the number of starters that
any team can have active to a maximum of 6 has created an
awkward imbalance.
+1. I think we should atleast consider a middle ground and let
one other position back into the SP realm.
even two months into the season last year, we were hunting for
350 point a year platoon OFer's, while more capable SP's were
available on the waiver wire. We're now in a situation where
there are almost as many OFers on teams as there are SPs.
This also adds some flexibility, in terms of a hitter getting
hurt, you can grab a SP for a couple weeks into that Utility
spot.

The Circle is discussing each suggestion, one at a time.
Currently we're deciding about a keeper DL.

I'd support allowing pitchers in UP spots if we reduce or
eliminate the strikeout penalty for hitters.
I have to disagree with Ray. Strikeouts are historically high,
and there's no sign of let up on that front. If anything,
strikeouts are going to continue to go up. Every strikeout is
-1 point from the hitter population going to +1 point to the
pitcher population.
And for all intents and purposes, it's just another out. In
2016 where all the best hitters in the league seem to strike out
120-130 times or more, it's time to quit dinging them each time
for what all intents and purposes is another out.
Okay, I see what you're saying. I just don't believe
that everyone will use the UP for an SP for just a short time.
I'll tell you with certainty, that if it's legal, I'll be using
another SP. We may need a creative way around that.

I think the issue with high end pitchers scoring so much more
then the rest of the league is the real problem... addressing
the 50-60 point starts by lowering the bonus on a CG SO would do
more to balance the scoring issue then changing the penalty on
Ks...

Just checked last year's leader board. 20th ranked pitcher was
lester at 588. 20th ranked bat was brantley at 614.
Its at the top where pitchefs get wonky. Best think prolly get
rid of points for shut outs or some such.

Basically what method said. Did that on phone. Gonna look
closer when I get to house. Just picked so at random so may not
be consistent.
And truth be told. Some of my resistance comes from putting
together keepers with average of a upper middish teen k rate tho
I'm guessing there....seems unfair to penalize guys who build
there team around that and help guys who have tons of ks. I
would have built differently with different rules.

Thought I'd compare a few more guys. Top is obviously off but
that us an easy fix.
10 664 (arenado) 666 (degrom)
15 630 (cespedes) 627 (archer)
20 614 (brantley) 587 (lester)
25 595 (morales) 571 (wacha)
30 569 (jd) 553 (shields)
35 553 (eaton) 521 (chen)
I don't really see where need is to do away with batter K points
but that may just be me.

Also, as far as milb guys, I think raising the ab/ip caps helps
the better teams more than rebuilding. The rebuilding teams
probably have players they don't mind cutting whereas contending
team probably doesn't keep those guys without being abe to use a
minor league spot.
