Good grief! Where did January go? Winter meetings are needed,
IF there are any issues you need discussed. Check the winter
meetings board in the BBFL and repost here are email one of the
Circle.
I had one idea I'll throw out and see if anyone else likes it.
If not, let it die. If an owner loses a FA who eventually
resigns with his original team, the owner can take him back at
the cost of his top draft pick(s). Example: this year I had
Chris Davis and Iwakuma go FA and then resign with Baltimore and
Seattle. I could reclaim them by surrendering my #1 and #2
draft picks. Or just one of them for my #1. It would increase
the gambling portion.

I would like to bring up guys like jurickson profar. He has to
be protected but hasnt playedin 2 years because of injury. He
is more than likely starting in minors and I would like to
protect himthere. It is a special circumstance and would have
to be a unique siuation like this to be discussed

I've wondered bout something similar to what buff mentions with
profar.
When a pitcher has tj (or other similar type stuff) and will
have to miss at least 2 or 3 months of upcoming year, it really
puts you in a bind to keep them and compete. I thought might
could augment rules where you could use a milb slot for a guy
who you know will miss a preset amount of time in the coming
year. That way, Folks in contention won't feel like they have
to trade away their favorite guys or be handicapped.
Not sure how much time needs to be missed to be fair, but i'd
say at least 2 to 3 months or it would be unfair advantage with
extra keeper. And would understand if wanted to put that line
at 4 to 5 months missed of upcoming season. But I think 3 would
prolly be fair since generally guys coming back at midseason
aren't gonna be their best anyway.

For example I had to protect Zac Wheeler last year knowing he
was out for the year

I would also suggest looking at upping the innings/at bats for
guys to remain as minor leaguers - too many guys have be thrown
back or kept when they will spend most of the upcoming season in
the minors. Maybe double it from the current numbers? Thoughts?

I think doubling is a good idea... too many young guys like Trea
turner etc are being forced to start int he minors for service
time reasons...
I am not a fan of an expanded "dl" slot... i think that will
drastically reduce player turn over, and we probably want to
promote turnover...

I wonder if we could institute one DL slot to begin the season
for guys with TJS or extended DL time, like a broken leg. As
long as we had a firm declaration from the MLB team, I think we
could make it work.
As far as minor leaguers are concerned, we've already come a
long way from zero tolerance of just a few years ago. Do we
want to get into a situation where bottom half teams can't ever
get a good player? We need to continue owners to make tough
decisions just like in the real MLB. That's what we said when
the BBFL was founded.

I'd like to see one DL spot and extra roster spot at the
beginning for season injuries. I'm having a tough time deciding
what to do with Lance Lynn - out for the season with TJS.
