Good question on moving Bushrod to RT. Isnt he making a boat
load of money? And what about his health, he hasn't been so
good health wise this year....

Beating the Bucs dropped us from 9th pick to 14th as it stands
right now.
Nice to beat Lovie, but that just sucks.

Interesting mock pick:
11) Chicago Bears - Robert Nkemdiche (D-Line Ole Miss) After a
week three upset win in Tuscaloosa in which Robert Nkemdiche
starred, the high-profile defensive lineman was riding high and
in the discussion to go first overall. However, the second half
of the season was not kind to Nkemdiche and now his stock rests
in even further uncertainty after his frightening off-field
incident. Nkemdiche is lucky to even be alive after his herb
induced free-fall, but you can bet this will affect his draft
stock. Nkemdiche was having on-field troubles even before the
incident - not to mention a concussion - and it's possible he
falls even further than this on draft. In the end though, he is
too talented and is too freakish of an athlete for teams
desperately needing his expertise to continue passing on him.
Chicago is in dire need of a playmaking five technique for Vic
Fangio's defense, and if Nkemdiche can stay clean he can be an
All-Pro. - See more at:

We're usually just about there but not getting the prize. This
coming draft will probably be more of the same. Watching as the
guys we want and need go right before our pick...

Nkemdiche is SUPER high risk/high reward. All the potential,
but smoking synthetic weed??? That stuff is supposed to be
really bad for you.

Really bad as in can kill you. Anyone using that crap ain't
using their head. Don't believe the Bears would go for a guy
with that type of character issue.

I agree. Even if he were still on the board when the Bears pick,
they'd pass. Remember McDonald ? Tank ? Hurd ? Betcha the pick
has to appear squeaky clean.

The 2016 NFL regular season will end this season with the
Chicago Bears at either 6-10 or 7-9. That means the team will
draft somewhere between the 6th and 18th slot in the first
round. With five teams that can’t finish better than 5-11 and 13
teams that could finish either 6-10 or 7-9, we won’t know for
sure until sometime Sunday night.
That said, there will be a lot happening between Sunday and the
draft, which begins April 28. First, the Bears have to determine
what they want to do with wide receiver Alshon Jeffery and
running back Matt Forte.
Next, the Bears will have to decide which of the veterans
brought in this year on one-year deals – such as Tracy Porter,
Mitch Unrein, Sam Acho and others – and other veterans with an
expiring deal like Zach Miller, they want to re-sign. They also
have to look at veterans with time left on their contracts –
Martellus Bennett, Jermon Bushrod and Antrel Rolle might not fit
their plans going forward.
Following that exercise, the Bears will determine what needs
have to be filled in either free agency or the draft.
In my opinion, the Bears will need at least one wide receiver,
two offensive linemen, a blocking tight end and perhaps a backup
quarterback on offense. On defense, the needs will be a
defensive end, an inside linebacker, a corner and a ball-hawking
free safety.
Until all the underclassmen entering the draft are known, we
won’t know for sure what the draft will look like. The
underclassmen have until Jan. 18 to declare.
Looking at what we might have in the draft, the Bears could go a
number of different ways in the first round. A lot will depend
on where their pick actually is. There will be four standout
offensive linemen – Mississippi junior tackle Leremy Tunsil,
Notre Dame junior Ron Stanley, Stanford senior Kyle Murphy and
Ohio State senior Taylor Decker. At least one of those players
should be on the board when the Bears pick.
On the defensive line, the Bears will seek guys who can play the
5-technique in their 3-4 schemes. With that in mind, players who
could be available include A’Shawn Robinson and Jonathan Allen
from Alabama. Robinson has yet to declare. One of my favorites
is DeForest Buckner from Oregon. Robert Nkemdiche will also be
in the mix, but his recent arrest on drug charges gives him a
big red flag at this time.
At inside linebacker, the only player I feel is worthy of being
drafted high in the first round right now is Notre Dame junior
Jaylon Smith, but he likely will be gone before the Bears pick.
Reggie Ragland from Alabama is a good fit for what the Bears do,
but the first round is probably a little rich for him. I see him
as more of a second-round type. A player who gets a lot of
publicity is UCLA’s Myles Jack, an excellent player but I don’t
see him as a fit in the Bears' scheme. The same can be said for
Su’a Cravens from USC.
Cornerback will be deep starting with Florida State’s Jalen
Ramsey, who may also be able to play free safety, and Florida’s
Vernon Hargreaves, who can also return kicks. Iowa junior
Desmond King – if he enters the draft – is also a possible first
rounder. Kyle Fuller’s brother, Kendall, is coming out but I
don’t see him as a first rounder.
As it stands now, I see the Bears first- round pick being either
an offensive lineman, a defensive lineman or a corner. Could
that change? Absolutely, but at this time, a player from one of
those areas looks like a good bet.
