I have seen projections of Stanley being gone by #11. Even were
he still there which I highly doubt, my guess is they draft a
swing tackle that can play both sides. Leno has shown he cant
play the right side. My guess is they go for a player who can
play both sides and can take Long's place and eventually move
Long back to his primary position as RG.

Tunsil and Stanley are the only OT's worthy of the #11 pick.

Personally, after watching the Senior Bowl, I agree with that
and I am not dead certain Stanley is that good. The kid from MSU
is pretty good too and he is 1st round grade. I was watching
ESPN yesterday and their bottom line had a mock 1st from Mel
Kiper Jr. I laughed when it got to #11 and had the Bears taking
Jaylon Smith who likely wont play in 2016/17. I said to myself
WOW they must think all the Bears need is another 1st who misses
the season like last year. We have to do a better job of getting
talent than that. We need players who can start and stay on the
field. I think our defense needs a 1st round starter more than
the offense needs an OT at #11.

Right now I'd bet Bears mgmt is penciling in Leno at LT and Long
at RT which means they can concentrate on defense with their
first 2 or 3 picks in the draft. Maybe all 3 if they can sign a
decent RG in free agency that's on the good side of 30.
Offensively, other than RG/RT how many starting spots would be
up for grabs? They could use a backup QB, backup blocking TE, a
5th or 6th speed WR, a 3rd string HB, and a backup offensive
lineman but the starting lineup seems pretty settled.
Defensively, we have openings at starting everything with the
       exception of NT.

Right now, I'm of the opinion if we need it, might as well get
the best at that spot if poss. If there's a talented LT sitting
there, grab him. LB? go for it. Corner? Safety? Yep, get him.
BPA. We just have so many holes to fill and realizing it ain't
happenin' in two years time, get em now. Build the team, one
little block at a time, year after year. Then maybe after three,
four years have gone by, we'll finally have a team built for
winning. But if we continually keep missing in the draft, all
bets are off and we're spinning our wheels goin nowhere.

Assuming the Bears were simply drafting BPA - what if the grades
are virtually the same for an ILB, OLB, CB, safety, DE, LT, and
       QB?
Do you really think if a HB pops up at 11 with a grade higher
than any of those positions that the Bears (or any team) would
       draft him?

I'd want the BPA at a position we need, not simply to have the
BPA. We don't need to become the Loins where they drafted
       receiver after receiver after receiver....

Just completed this draft at fanspeak.com, using the
       walterfootball database...
1-11 Ronnie Stanley OT Notre Dame
       2-10 Shaq Lawson DE Clemson
       3-9 Hunter Henry TE Arkansas
4-8 Jaylon Smith LB Notre Dame
5-11 Miles Killebrew S Southern Utah
6-10 Dadi Nicolas OLB Va Tech
       6-29 Josh Forrest ILB Kentucky
       6-31 Jake Coker QB Alabama
       7-9 Kolby Listenbee WR TCU
I'd be on board with this result...

Didn't I read the Smith tore his ACL and MCL otherwise he would
be a top 5 pick? And that he is going to miss his first year?
I guess it would be ok in the 4th round to give that a shot.

Think it was ACL and LCL...moot point most likely, not many
people see him falling out of the 1st round even with the
       injuries...
