I just did a 7 round mock on the fanspeak website. Once again
considering we sign a DL (Wilkerson or M.Jackson) and Trevathan
(OLB) thru free agency.
1) Paxton Lynch (QB)
2) Robert Nkemdiche (DT)
3) Kyle Murphy (OT)
4) Joshua Garnett (OG)
5) Miles Killebrew (SS)
6a) Joe Schubert (OLB)
6b) Tyler Johnstone (OT)
6c) Wayne Lyons (CB)
7) Keyarris Garrett (WR)

The Jets are saying they are going to tag Wilkerson. And you
are willing to gamble on Nkemdiche? He scares the crap out of
me.

Chicago Bears FACTS on Defense in 2015 :
30th in SACKS
30th in INT's ... that's out of 32 teams.
Where do we put our priority's at ?
A SHUTDOWN CORNER & DEFENSIVE LINEMAN with the first two picks.
Of course ... now that we have a 3-4 defense ... we could see a
LINEBACKER ...
you gotta stay flexible. :D

Bears had 35 sacks in 2015 - that's 22nd in the NFL (still not
very good)
And with only 8 picks they were tied for the 30th place.
Passes defended - tied for 31st place.
Forced fumbles - tied for 30th place.

Wshfl
Also stud DLine players are usually gone by the end of the first
round usually.
But most of those guys will be 4-3 DEs and 3-4 OLBs which mean
maybe some of the 3-4 guys slip to our pick in the 2nd round or
later. Kind of like Goldman last year.

I suppose you can pray about that Dallas, but other than divine
help I don't have much faith in that.

It wouldn't shock me if Nikemdiche was gone by #20 in the first
round. The talent is just too good. He wont last till 11 in the
2nd round.

And while Paxton Lynch is a very worthy 1st round selection, his
selection wouldn't make our performance in 2016 better than
2015. A player at a defensive position has a better chance of
making that happen.

I'm not talking about pass rushers - I'm talking about 3-4 DEs
primarily. Big tall guys that are not exceptional pass rushers.
Who do we have at 3-4 DE? Jarvis Jenkins, Will Sutton, Ego
Ferguson, Mitch Unrein
Jenkins was signed to a one year deal last year. Sutton and
Ferguson are converted 4-3 DTs and Unrein is a journeyman. Big
need.
The fast 6-3 260lbers are going to play 4-3 DE or 3-4 OLB and go
in the first round - I'm not talking about those guys.

Just saying that IMHO a punter has a better chance to improve
our standing in 2016 than a QB. To me a clipboard carrying QB
doesn't help the standings like position player of need. We just
have too many needs to invest in a QB at #1. Maybe one of those
6th rounders we can afford to waste on carrying a clipboard but
not #1.
