I feel a roadgrader RT can be had later so that we can move Long
back to RG.
I'd call Long a roadgrader RT - you need a RT that can pass
block and that's where Long had his issues.
I don't believe acquiring a LT is THE need because Leno cant
play RT.
Leno exceeded expectations and I think the Bears feel
comfortable with him at LT next season. But if a LT drops to
them at 11 that is the BPA they could draft him. If Leno gets
beat out at LT I think his next best position would be swing
tackle - he looked pretty bad at RT in PS. So bad that they
had to rush Long. I don't think Leno has enough power to play
guard.
I believe defensive playmakers are a greater need whether via FA
or draft.
If you watched the Packer/Card game you saw the value of the
shutdown corner. Both the Packers and Cards defenses could be
much more aggressive with Petersen and Shields playing one on
one. Shutdown corner is another spot worth considering at #11.

And what if that BPA is an OT, wouldn't the Bears be smarter to
play him at RT to begin his career, rather than Cutler's blind
side since we already have a capable LT?
And while you were bringing up my post and dissecting it Dallas,
why didn't you dissect this too...[B]Like I said, lets see what
we score in FA before prioritizing our draft needs.[/B]
Maybe we also score an OT in FA making drafting one not a
priority. OTOH I agree with you shutdown corners are a definite
need to consider. And it seems you never have enough quality CBs
on your team.
In summary Dallas, lets not put the cart before the horse.

Lighten up Frances - I only dissect posts that interest me.
It's going to be a long offseason with free agency and the draft
a far ways off so we got to talk about something.
As for free agency, Pace will try to address most of his holes
in the roster through free agency. He'll try to fill more holes
in via the draft but getting production out of rookies,
particularly their first year is a crapshoot.
And I agree about drafting a LT and possibly playing him on the
right side - it's done frequently in the NFL. My point is that
you can't just get a big road grader RT because there are so
many talented DEs/OLBs that they have to be a pretty good pass
blocker too.
As for our rookies, Kevin White got injured (could happen to
anyone). Goldman didn't play much at first but when Ratliff was
cut and Ferguson got hurt he had to play and did pretty good.
Grasu only played cuz the FA center got hurt. Amos got his
chance when Mundy was hurt.
I think Pace will fill his holes in free agency and hope his
rookies can take a few jobs away. You might see some draft
picks at the same spots that Pace sigs in free agency.

So I am watching the Carolina vs. Arizona game and I am Luke
Kuechly is such a stud, which I predicted before 2012 draft.

Kuechly has the feel of HOF one day to me if he stays healthy.
I know WR and OT are positions of need. However, if this kid
were to fall to us, I would hope we would pull the trigger. The
idea of him getting to play with Urlacher and Briggs is just
wonderful. I mean with Da Bears history at LB can't you just
see this kid coming in and being special.
If you look at the dialogue a poster disagreed heavily about my
statements. I think I called it right.

Denver would be foolish beyond belief to let him go, but yeah if
somehow by a miracle we could land him, that would be
huge.....just huge

I doubt that either, but the bigger question is does he want to
leave? Players sometimes take less because they are happier
where they are and vice versa. So we will see whether its all
about money or not.

We don't need no busted up FA's unless they want to come in at
the minimum and work their way up from 3rd string. ;D
