Long has had his ups and downs at RT this season, but I think
he's done a pretty good job considering he has had no collegiate
experience and no NFL preseason experience at RT. He was
basically thrown into the position a week before the start of
the season.
Keep Long at RT - it's easier to find a guard than a tackle.

I understand about his trials, I just don't like the production.
I just think we can do better and I don't think having an
experienced college RT in the pipeline is a bad idea especially
with the injury problems we've experienced on the OLine. Also it
appears there will be a lot of teams looking to upgrade their
OLines from this draft.

Well if you want to draft a RT to replace Long you are talking
round 1 or round 2. The roadgrader term sounds cool but when
you are pass blocking 30 times a game you need a guy that can
also stay with guys like Von Miller and Clay Matthews.
As for the pipeline, rookie Tayo Fabuluje has been on the 53 man
roster from day 1. He may be a project but Fox/Pace felt he had
enough potential to keep him off the practice squad.
I like Slauson at LG. I like Long at RT. Leno at LT is solid
at pass blocking but not much of a road grader. Grasu gets a
pass cuz he's a rook but he's got to get bigger/stronger. RG is
actually in a little bit better shape since Omameh replaced the
Ducasse who was a penalty machine but he's probably the guy that
could be upgraded. And you can do that in round 3 maybe later.

I like Stanford OT Kyle Murphy in round three. I'd like Jack
Conklin OT from Michigan ST.in round one if we keep sliding down
into the second half of the round.
The way this team is performing I'm now looking at us drafting
in the high teens or low 20's. Conklin or Shaq Lawson (OLB/DE)
would be good value there. Jeremy Cash (SS) is a stud I'd like
to select in the 2nd,but,doubt he will last at our selection.

Round 2 would be fine for a RT. The Iowa vs Mich St matchup
should be a pretty good watch. Both run the ball pretty well
from clips I've seen.

In seeing bits and pieces of the games on the ticket, I'm not
seeing much from last year's draft crop of pass rushers.
It looks like Dupre isn't starting in Pittsburgh: Haven't seen
much from Beasley or Shane Ray.

Have no problem adding to the DL or OL. We need to build both
into being a force on this team. First couple picks a OT/DE and
then the defensive back end next and add a QB to groom in there
somewhere.

Sporty - I would agree with the build the trenches, really any
pick on defense should be considered.
I have never been a big fan of the QB to groom pick though. It
always seems like a wasted pick in my opinion, unless you are
choosing like the Broncos did in selecting Osweiler. Peyton is
pushing 40, so they selected Osweiler 3 years ago and let him
learn from coaches, from Manning and watching.
Any flyer that we take on a late round QB, is basically a wasted
pick. If you want that guy, he is already on our roster in
Fales. Fales actually outplayed Carr back in college. Not sure
what it is about his game that doesn't translate in comparison,
I have no basis in argument other than I have read Fales stats
and seen the several pro teams have been interested in prying
him off of our practice squad. Now he is a number 2, I say
spend the picks on position players anywhere else but at QB

Get whatever players Improve pass rush and run blocking.
We don't really have anyone on the team that teams fear whether
it be defense or offense. We need someone that teams fear and
have to scheme against.

Our run defense also needs improvement - we are ranked 29th in
the NFL. Oddly enough we are 2nd in the NFL vs the pass. I
know we aren't up there in sacks but the Bears lately have been
generating good pressure and the recent addition of Callahan and
Porter into the starting lineup have been huge.
But I agree - improve the pass rush and add another O-lineman.

Defensively, no. It used to be just McPhee, but now Houston and
Willie Young are generating as much or maybe more pressure.
Offensively, I know teams will scheme against Jeffery. And
Martellus Bennett is also a factor. Throw in a healthy Kevin
White next year and it could be special.

I am not sure Bennett will be on the team next year. He has
been in a funk, and with the whole I want a new contract with 2
years to go and the hold out, they may just want to get rid of
him, even though he is a monster.
