I think that of the last three, the only one that might be taken
in the draft is Black. I wouldn't be surprised if the Yankees
took him if no one else does.
I'm not sure that his loss would be that bad. If they manage to
keep him, I hope they move him back into the rotation. Moving
into relief didn't do much to improve his command.

Black has a nice arm, but he's a bad pitcher. Not too concerned
about losing a guy with no concept of the strike zone. Who
       cares?

I'd hate to lose pitchers that throw hard for nothing. Let Black
take Beeler's spot. Pena is kinda interesting, hopefully they
can bring him back on a minor league free agent deal.

If he never gets a concept of the strike zone, there is no
reason to care. But very occasionally, a pitcher will suddenly
gain that concept, as Arrieta did. The odds are overwhelmingly
against it, but if you have room on the 40 man roster, it is
better to have a guy with a one in a thousand chance than a guy
with a zero in a thousand chance,

If the Yankees will give us the waiver price or another minor
leaguer in trade, it's worth opening the spot. If he develops
into something great, it won't be the last time we had something
of value and gave it away: Josh Hamilton, Josh Donaldson,
Oshkosh by Josh, Josh "Chris" Archer, just joshing ya.

Cueto didn't look washed up and worthless last night. He's got
to be part of the equation for pitcher-consideration this
       winter, I'd think.
       I wonder if he'd be a total anti-Bosio guy? Bosio I think is a
"consistent mechanics" advocate. Cueto is kind of fun to watch
because he's got so many different windups. It's fun. I think
Cueto would be a fun guy, and he'd be an entertaining crafty
veteran. I'd think the Cubs clubhouse landscape, Maddon, and the
winning that's coming might be pretty appealing to him.
Would sure be nicer to have a FA with an arm like DeGrom or
       Harvey or Syndergaard, though.

[/quote]I've been the most anti-Cueto guy and I too have been
impressed at his last two outings. Pitched like an ace! They
       might have found his issue.

I'm not advocating for Cueto. But, there's only one Price, and
it's not likely we're going to sign him and have him work out
great. Good chance that we're going to be "settling" for a
lesser guy. Cueto? Samardz? Zimmerman? Whoever they sign,
the $$ price is going to be very high. And if they sign nobody
and instead trade for a guy, the talent price is going to be
massive. But the more options, in a sense, the more likely that
we'll get at least one and perhaps at a price that doesn't end
up prohibitive, and perhaps for a pitcher who does serve us
well, at least early on. Cueto would have looked a lot nicer
       facing the Mets than Hammel.

Lackey? No. No. No. I can't stand to look at that guy. No.
