Amazing how much the beard transforms his look. From sweet guy
to menacing guy.

Looking at those two photos of Arietta, I think he needs this:

Not sure if this got mentioned . . .
Alex Gordon - OF - Royals
CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Cubs, White Sox, Orioles
and Astros "are among teams rumored to have interest" in
impending free agent Alex Gordon.
Heyman adds that "there will be many more," including the
Royals, who are interested in retaining Gordon. While Gordon
likely could get more money on the open market, Heyman says
"there is reason to hope" if you're Kansas City that the
outfielder could accept a team-friendly deal to stick around
since he's done it before. Gordon will turn 32 in February and
will likely get a 4-5 year contract, according to Heyman.
If the Cubs are looking to improve outfield corner defense,
Gordon would be a nice fit. If they did make a run at a player
like Gordon, I'm not sure what that would mean for guys like
Soler and Schwarber, though.
It's going to be an interesting offseason to watch for sure.

If they make a run at Gordon, I think it's a sign that Soler
will be traded for a pitcher.

FA- Cahill, Denofria, Fowler, Haren, Hunter, Jackson, Motte,
Rodney
Outrighted and FA- Berry, Herrera
Outrighted to Iowa- Teagarden (he may still become a FA)

Which of those will we try to keep? I'm guessing Fowler,
Rodney, maybe Jackson?

I wonder if Cahill will be looking to find another starting job.
He seemed to have found a nice niche in the bullpen. If he's
willing to be a full time reliever, I can see bringing him back.

Cahill would be one less reliever to trade for or sign FA. Is
Cahill smart enough to realize that a MLB reliever is better
than selling cars?

I think Cahill, Jackson, Rodney are the best shots at resigning.
I'm sure they will make an effort of Fowler, but it sounds like
they will be below market. Jackson it sounds like they may want
to have him replace Denofria, but I'm sure he is going to look
for a starting job. Rodney as the vet bullpen guy with grit
would be an upgrade on Motte.
I would offer Cahill a shot to start in spring training, but let
him now that the bullpen is likely where he is going to end up.
If somebody wants to give him a starting job, good luck to them.
