In LA, most of the population was born somewhere else.
Sports fans already have their old NFL team to root for. A
Bears game in LA would fill the stadium with Bear fans not
Charger/Raider/Ram fans.
I have heard the Charger moving news all year. The owner wants
to move because the city hasn't built a new stadium, so the
owner isn't making as much as other owners on PSL's luxury boxes
and more seats. If he moves to LA the value of the team nearly
doubles, and sportswriters speculate he will sell shortly after
the move.
The NFL has pronounced there WILL be a team in that market and
they want at least one team to make the move.
Personally, I remember when the Rams then the Raiders couldn't
draw 35,000 in the seats. What's going to change? I think
there's a high probability of crash and burn, even with a shiny
new stadium.

Wednesday’s announcement from Lions receiver Calvin Johnson that
an announcement regarding his future is coming seemed complex
and curiously timed. But the truth may flow from the simplest
explanation.
Johnson genuinely is thinking about retiring from football.
Ed Werder of ESPN, citing an unnamed source, reports that
Johnson has cleaned out his locker at the team’s facility,
unlike other veteran players. Johnson also reportedly has told
his mother that he’s not sure he wants to play.
If he retires, Johnson will owe the Lions $3.2 million in
previously-paid signing-bonus money. If he waits out the Lions
and refuses to renegotiate a contract that would pay him $15.95
million in salary this season, along with a $24 million cap
number, the Lions likely would cut Johnson, allowing him to keep
the $3.2 million.
It also would give him the freedom to play for another team, if
he changes his mind later.
Either way, Johnson seems to be, at least for now, having real
questions about whether he’ll play again. And while the chronic
struggles of the Lions may have something to do with that,
Johnson also likely realizes that he’s not the guy at age 30
that he was in earlier years. Unless and until he comes to terms
with that, it could be hard for him to continue.

What a waste playing for the Loins. That team hasn't done jack
squat since Sanders left 17 yrs ago and the last time they won
the Division was

wow... first Sanders at the peak of his game... and now Calvin
at just about that point...
Why didnt the lions petition for new ownership in LA? that might
be a better idea...

The Buccaneers announced the firing of head coach Lovie Smith
Wednesday night.
Smith had been the Buccaneers’ head coach for two years. This
news comes as a surprise after the Bucs went 6-10 in 2015 while
starting rookie quarterback Jameis Winston, the No. 1 pick in
last spring’s draft. The Bucs went 2-14 in 2014.
“After careful consideration, we informed Lovie that we have
decided to make a change,” Bucs co-chairman Joel Glazer said in
a statement. “I want to thank Lovie for his hard work and
dedication to the Buccaneers during his time here. This decision
was difficult on a variety of levels. I am disappointed that we
were not more successful these past few seasons, but we are
committed to doing what is necessary to give our fans the
winning team they deserve. As we move forward, General Manager
Jason Licht will oversee the process for finding our next head
coach.”
Smith, 57, was the head coach of the Bears from 2004-12.

Radio says they felt the team quit on him on the last 4 days...
and were not happy with his game management skills that we left
some wins on the field.

Too bad, I'm sure most were looking for another win over the
Bucs next year (3rd in a row) with Lovie at the helm...
Panic move to sign Koetter to HC. Should be interesting
though.....
