It looks like ball lightning to me. It is very rare but I have
witnessed it personally before.
When I was a kid we always went to my grandmothers every Sunday.
She would cook a meal for all of her kids and grandkids that
could be there. It was looking like a storm was coming on, then
we saw a bright ball about the size of a basketball appear out
in the yard then float through a screen and into the house. The
adults yelled to stay away from it and not to touch it. It
floated through the house almost as if it was intelligent. I
remember thinking it was following me. I went into the kitchen
and it came in there as well and then simply blinked out of
existence.
Has anyone else experienced ball lightning? If that is what
this is, it is on a grand scale as that had to be a huge ball of
lightning and several of them.

Could be a drone. We were once eating at a Cracker Barrel years
ago and it was at night and we were watching out the window when
we saw what looked like dancing lights in the distance. They
would go up, hover in midair, and then shoot down at very fast
rates. We were extremely puzzled and perplexed watching them,
wondering what the heck they were. There was one that kept doing
that and a string of lights that just hung in a line near them.
This was in Ohio. So after eating, we were determined to check
it out so we followed the lights and it ended up being a kite
club! They had all manner of kites, from smaller ones just
sitting on a huge string out with lights suspended from them to
one where a guy was flying it with both hands and it had a light
kit on it, so it looked like dancing lights. It was really very
cool to watch. It was the strangest thing, though, the lights
suspended on this huge line out with a kite way out there you
couldn't even see, just a line that went to nowhere but with
lights hanging off it. Learned a lot about kites that day and we
sat there for a couple hours with them watching and discussing
kites and their club. Very cool....

When I was a kid in Chicago just as I looked out of the front
window of my parents house during a thunderstorm,
a bolt of lighting blew a young planted tree to smithereens
planted by the city between our front yard and the street.
Duck,Sporty,
You guys resurrected a memory I had long forgotten.

We had lightning strike the man hole cover in front our house
when I was a kid. The shock waves of electricity that came
through the house caused all of our muscles to tense up
instantly.
One of our friends was reading about zombies and when the
electricity went through his body and tensed his muscles he
slammed the book into his face. We were all a bit freaked out
by it.
