I had federal jury duty today. What a Craptastic day!
I didn't mind doing it because I feel it is our duty as
citizens. However I was so annoyed by the time I got out of
there. 14 jurors selected. Questioning by Judge, prosecutor
and defense. 6 are dismissed. 6 more called up. After
questioning 3 are dismissed. Three more called up after
questioning all three are dismissed. Three more called up they
dismiss two keep 1. Two more called up they keep 1 dismiss the
other. The next one called up the judge dismissed before the
other two questioned and then they finally had the 12 plus 2
       alternates.
Some of these people were so obviously just trying to get out of
doing it. One lady went up just fine and as soon as the judge
starts talking to her she starts shaking an crying. Says she
just can't judge people. The judge dismisses her and she walks
out of the room like nothing happened. One old bitch made noise
of disgust when she was called and then made every attempt to
show she could not be impartial while saying she could.
There were about 5 different jurors I would have convicted and
jailed on stupidity alone if it was up to me.
8:30 to 12:30 to pick the jurors. I never even got called, just
had to sit there and watch this mess. By the time they had the
jury picked there were only like 6 of us left in the pool. All
of the people who were obviously trying to get out of it did,
but of course only after having to sit through the questioning.

I've only had jury duty 2x. When I was in college in the 90s my
Nam came up. I showed up at 9 am on Monday morning, nervous
about telling a judge that I would not swear on the Bible. After
an hr or so they tell us we are excused for lunch. I live at the
other end of the county 45 minutes away so I walk around Walmart
for a while and get lunch. When we come back, we wait another hr
and they send us home for the day and tell us to come back
tomorrow at 9am. Same stuff, different day for Tuesday.
Wednesday morning we get there and they tell us we can go home,
all cases were settled out of court for the week. Waste of a
week, especially having to drive 45 minutes there, 45 minutes
back. The $12 a day they gave me back then wouldn't cover my gas
and lunch. I worked part time so my boss just didn't schedule me
to work very much that week.
My name came up again a few months back, they had us call in on
Sunday night to check in. When I called in they said we were all
       excused.

Just say, "they arrested him. Were here. He must have done
it." Then play dumb when they dismiss you.

What is political about jury duty?
I was pissed at stupid people. I am pretty sure that is
universal no matter who you vote for.

Where I am in Maury county tn, your on for 2 months, you call a
number and if your group is called, you show up for the day.
The diversity of trials is astounding to me, but everyone has a
right to a trial. Very few of ANY group didn't show or try to
get out of the duty. The jury selection is maddening, and it was
obvious to me that was the very first battle ground. I was
thrown off two. When dismissed for the day, you simply left.
Our impaneled groups help clean up a hell of a back log,
those civil servants in that system of government to me simply
don't get paid enough. Going through that, I felt a lot better
about our system. It works. Slower than I would like, but it
       works.

It was disheartening to watch. We have so many fucktards and so
       few people with common sense.
I felt the judge and attorneys did their jobs and did them well.
It was the jury pool I was disappointed with.

       Hey Duck,
Welcome to the government of THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA !
It's the way it works. Been there done that too many times.
Like two hours into the jury you're thinking :
"THIS is the way things work ?? This'll take YEARS to get
       resolved."
Then you realize : There's ALOTTA MONEY in play here ...
and there's people that make their living on this.
They don't grow corn ... they don't make parts for products ...
they don't make cures for human misery ... they don't design a
       better jet.
They argue a moral principle called : LAW.
A situation they invented that takes advantage of every other
       situation ever invented.
They call the shots ... and they got you to pay for them.
It's ingenious ... it's like the DRONE BEE of a beehive
       figuring out how NOT ...
to get kicked out of the BEEHIVE when winter approaches and is
       no longer needed.
They just keep hangin on ! :D You gotta love the fortitude!
       ;D

I thought it was a response to someones post on the politics
thread. I didn't get that you were just calling out the
       fucktards.
