Re: The Sidelines

So my wife, 19 yr old daughter and I go out to eat then then I
buy a 30 pack of beer at the Walmart liquor store. The lady
behind the counter asks for my daughters ID. My wife tells her
she is 19 and she doesn't need to see here ID because she isn't
buying the beer. The lady tells us she can't sell it to us
until our daughter leaves the store.
My wife tells her either sell it to us or go get her manager.
She just looks at us. My wife says go get your manager. She
leaves, gets another lady who picks up the phone calls someone
and hands the lady the phone. She asks the person on the other
end of the phone if she can sell us the beer if we have our 19
yr old daughter with us. Of course she was told to sell us the
beer.
Lady, Here is your sign.
Then as we are leaving Walmart a car pulls up to us and a lady
rolls down her window obviously wanting to tell us something.
We roll down the window and she says, "I am sorry but your
exhaust is leaking" and just stares at us. We are dumbfounded
so we just smile and say thank you. She says, "I am really
sorry" and drives away.
My wife and I just looked at each other and busted out laughing.
WTF is in the air at Walmart?

This is what was for Thanksgiving dinner....
It was a 23 pounder and in the brine for 24hours.
Charlie checking out the Turkey in the honey brine...

The Bird all rubbed down and ready for the stuffing which is in
the bowl. Steeped an apple, onion and cinnamon sticks in the
microwave for abut 5 minutes. Then a sprig or two of Rosemary
and Sage in the cavity.

IN the smoker she goes. The water pan contains apple juice,
water, carrots, celery, onion, all the giblets, neck, wing tips,
trimmed fat off the bird, dried spices (thyme, rosemary,
oregano, rubbed sage, bay leaf) white wine and water. This
becomes the bomb gravy and stock for leftover turkey and
dumplings when it is all said and done.

As you can see in the bag on the lower right she gets some good
applewood smoke. You can see it rolling out now.

Yes. That is a bottle of bourbon in the background of the done
turkey. Mans gotta do something while waiting on the low and
slow smoker. Bourbon and sprite was the drink of the day That
is what was in the red solo cup sitting there. Surprised that I
didn't lose any fingers carving.
